Fantastic stuff by Udinese to qualify for the Group Stage. Nice to see there will be four clubs, and only four clubs, from each of the best leagues in the world competing in this year's competition. Football logic, or perhaps UEFA logic, won out this year with Everton losing and missing out on the Group Stage, while Liverpool step in as Champions. Unbelievable....UEFA got something partially right..

But wait! Some1 is crying

Mancio blames 'absurd' ban Wednesday 24 August, 2005

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roberto Mancini blamed the ‘absurd’ experience of playing in an empty stadium for Inter’s disappointing performance tonight.

“You cannot play football like this, as it must be terrifying to work in an empty stadium,” said the Coach after their 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.

“The team was very tense and held back because of the situation, as it didn’t feel like a competitive match. It was absurd and like playing two away games.”

The Nerazzurri qualified for the Champions League 3-1 on aggregate, but must play all three of their home games in the Group phase behind closed doors due to the crowd trouble that hit last season’s quarter-final against Milan.

“Friday’s draw will throw up strong and less prestigious teams, so it doesn’t matter who we get, but it will certainly be a strange experience to play like this another three times.”

Mancini chose to field David Pizarro alongside Juan Sebastian Veron for a period in the second half, an unusual decision according to the Italian Press.

“Veron and Pizarro can certainly play together and this whole rivalry is just something journalists have dreamed up to fill their columns,” added the tactician.

“They have done well in a partnership before and will improve with time, so it’s not an issue. I think most problems with our performance tonight can be put down to the strange atmosphere of playing in a deserted stadium.”

Is Roberto on crack? He was there for all the absurdity that some of the interistas displayed in their final CL loss to Milan last season. Or did he just check out in the second half and head over for a beer across the street of the San Siro, forgetting that there was a game on?

A few days back Nick said something about Inter, it seems he was absolutely right...They are turning to become the scum of football in Italy.

There's no umlaut in Brugge ;)

As for the Dutch teams - SUCH luck that Ajax are in seeding group 2; only just because of the elimination of Sporting Lisbon. They're now in the same group as PSV despite the latter reaching the semi-finals last season and Ajax being sent to the UEFAcup from the group stages :howler: I wouldn't want to be in Eindhoven right now

So what are the odds there will be a NL-BE encounter here?

I don't get it either? We are second seed and Inter and Arsenal are first seed????

Toootally DUBIOUs. Both were neither league champions and both have worst CL league records, or do they?

A ticket for what? I'm not going to Austria :D

Chxta - you watching this crap? What the hell is all this award nonsense? Is this what we all really need to see? Bloody cliché show. Although I did kinda like it that Cech won the goalkeeper award and he wasn't even there but Dudek was in the room, wearing a fancy suit et all. Cech comes on the screen, giving a reaction from London, wearing a jump suit, total messed up haircut and shit :D
