The only good thing about an all-Italian final would be the superiority of Italian football demonstrated. Not much of a spectacle though. Then again, the CL final hardly ever is. The only good European final I remember in recent years was Liverpool 5-4 Alaves :thumb:

great result too :D

my predictions:

Chelsea-Juve Chelsea :(

Liverpool-Milan Milan :(

Lyon-PSV no clue

Inter-Bayer Inter I would hope......

I hope these are completely wrong!

the barca coach was really stupid in letting he players talk so much about how Chelsea wouldn't get through....chelsea is hard enough to beat without giving them extra motivation

Really...? So, remind me...what "big games" has Henreee performed in? That doesnt include the game against Roma (god knows how long ago) where he got a hat-trick, and the game last season against Inter in the San Siro?

Oh, and you didnt answer me about Reyes, what has he done since the first 2 months of this season???

Why not those games?

I will include them. Inter, Roma, Liverpool (4-2 win last season), Manchester (1-1 in highbury last season), Chelsea 2-2 this season.

Thats 4 big games in two seasons out of a possible 7 perhaps. good average IMO.

About reyes, all players go off form once in a while. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Rooney should take heed of that.

It's an old saying AFAIK - I've certainly seen it used in a few places. It's true though.

not juve,, you think they Gonna score 7 goals in buffon's net ?

:D
1 goal is already enough to demolish us, unless we pressed from the start of the game to the end.

If we want to avoid every team, we might as well forfeit. Of course there would be tough opponents in this campaign and there is no easy way out. I thikn that we should perform well and demolish the opponent no matter who they r, whether it is Milan/PSV or some other teams. Even though our chances of winning Milan r minimal, but we could put our best performance against them. Even if we were to be eliminated, I would stillbe proud of my Juve.

Champions League – Best XI
3/11/2005 10:52:00 PM
Abhishek Thakur selects the players he thinks stole the show in the decisive leg of the Champions League ties this week….
GOALKEEPER
Petr Cech (Chelsea): Made a string of important saves, the most spectacular being goal bound Carles Puyol header, to keep Chelsea in it when Barcelona were at their best. Was only beaten by the sheer brilliance of Ronaldinho.

DEFENDERS
John Terry (Chelsea): Marshalled Chelsea’s defensive resources against Barcelona’s brigade, on a night where Mourinho was concentrating more on attack than defence. The winning goal was another feather in the cap of Chelsea’s captain inspirational. One wonders why Ferdinand and Campbell are always one and two for England’s defence.

Jaap Stam (Milan): Used his height, strength, and experience expertly to keep out Rooney and Nistelruoy. Showed Sir Alex exactly why they were wrong in letting him go.

Cannavaro (Juventus): Solid as ever, and his near perfect performance saw Juventus keep a clean sheet against an aggresive Real Madrid. He continues to raise questions as to why Roberto Mancini let him go.

MIDFIELDERS
Mikael Essien (Lyon): Wrapped up a masterful midfield performance with two goals, sparking immediate interest from long-time fan Wenger, as well as Sir Alex Ferguson.

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool): Found his form when it mattered most, used his mix of offensive and defensive abilities brilliantly to keep Leverkusen at bay and help Garcia and Baros up front.

Camoranesi (Juventus): Almost everything Juventus created went through him. He was all over the pitch, breaking up attacks, sending in long balls, and embarassing Real Madrid’s fragile defence with his runs.
Joe Cole (Chelsea): Made Gio Van Bronkhost invisible, and had Oleguer slipping and sliding all over the place. Turned in a performance that left England, and even Sven Goran Eriksson, wondering why he wasn’t in the national team. A certain starter in England’s next match.

FORWARDS
Luis Garcia (Liverpool): Often criticised since his move from Barcelona, showed exactly why Benitez wanted him here, and why Rijkaard only agreed to let him go after Liverpool paid his buyout clause. His two goals sealed the game, leaving his team with having to complete the formalities.

Ronaldinho (Barcelona): Scored and almost outrageous second goal, and almost single-handedly sent Chelsea packing, on a night where his team-mates let him down. After Paolo Ferreira’s reasonable performance in the first leg, there were no doubts about how the contest ended this time.

Sylvian Wiltord (Lyon): Has rediscovered the goal-scoring touch which had made him a regular with France and Arsenal. Another night where he showed that managers have often wasted him wide on the right.

Camoranesi deserved to be in the list. I dont know, I think Buffon should be in the list. His slightest touch to Ronaldo's shot that hit the bar and his one-fist block from RCarlos's freekick saved our butts.

Liverpol's Milan Baros claims he wants to meet Juve. Crazy bugger! I would hate that! from the Liverpool official website:

Milan Baros has revealed that he'd like to see Liverpool drawn against Juventus in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
The Czech striker, a scorer in Wednesday night's 3-1 success in Leverkusen, admits he is not keen on the idea of an all-English tie against Chelsea and is also wary of the threat French league leaders Lyon could pose.

He says: I don't want Chelsea. And then I also don't want Lyon. Even if they are not so famous they are a really dangerous team. I would like to play against Juventus."

Reflecting on the victory in the BayArena, he added: "Of course, we are delighted to be in the quarter-final. We just wanted to get through and we did that.

"I was happy to score because it was my first goal since coming back from injury. It's been a long time but hopefully I can now go on and score a few more. The most important thing though was that we won the game and got through."

Baros is relishing the prospect of an exciting end to the season and believes progress in the Champions League can help Liverpool in their pursuit of fourth placed Everton in the FA Barclays Premiership.

"I don't know why but we have played better in Europe than the Premiership this season. Hopefully though we can take heart from this performance and push on to catch Everton in fourth place.

"If we beat Blackburn and then Everton in the derby match, we will only be two points behind them. I hope we will be successful, the win in the BayArena should help us.

"As far as the Champions League is concerned I don't like to predict how far we will go. All we know is that we've got a two-legged tie in the quarter-final to look forward to and we're all awaiting next Friday's draw to see who our opponents will be.

"We want to do our best in the Champions League but we can't give ourselves objectives such as winning the Champions League. There are many great clubs now.

Also, if ultra-long-shots Liverpool do somehow win the CL, and Everton take 4th place in the EPL, everton may be forced to give up their CL place to Liverpool in exchange of a UEFA cup place! would be a hillarious twist in the old rivalry!

Strangely, I'd tend to agree with him. PSV or Juve'd be about the best draw Liverpool can hope for now. They other teams are set up in ways I couldn't see them beat in a decade of trying, but if they got lucky...

It'd be a crappy enough draw for Juve too. Favourites against an English team doesn't seem to sit well with them.
