True, I watched the highlights of the Bayern - Chelsea game and surely the Germans missed lots of chances.

I don't know how much is this of a refernence but I am sure that if Juventus go through to face Chelsea it will be an easier game than facing Bayern

Whether the referee made a mistake or not is totally inrelevant. The fans literally attacked the opponent's players and didn't even seem to learn after the break! Worst publicity football and in particular Italian football could ever get, and I hope these actions will be rightfully punished.

-Chelsea was damn lucky tonight....they made me sure that they will loose to Milan in final of CL :D
-Bayern first goal was a clear offside...
-who knows why Deisler and Frings were benched?

What makes you think that they'll get there?

boy oh boy, did my UEFA Action pass just pay itself off.

i was kind of upset lately, at the fact that i have not been using it much, but damn, I just watched the ENTIRE Inter vs Milan game from the point right before those 2 corners, that led to Cambiassos goal to the very end.

It has some amazing views of Dida getting hit by the flare, and just the entire process. Like 20-25 min or so. Good stuff indeed.

Stupid Inter fans, I hope action is taken.
The flares sounded pretty cool tho, like PSSSHHHHHHH, haha.

SHevas goal was sick.

The whole in Didas jersey was like the size of a quarter or so.

Intense day...

Isn't the referee for the Milan derby the 1 who was the referee for the Juve vs Real game? IMO I think he is an awful referee and I wonder how did he get voted as 1 of the best referees in the world

And I never expect cword trouble in that game.

I would to God that we have happier pictures of Delle Alpi to show this evening and tommorow to the world.

I'll also put this up in the Juve-Liverpool thread, in case we have Juve fans who are going to the match. Please spread the message of friendship out there.

Derby abandoned in Milan
Tuesday, 12 April 2005
The second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final between FC Internazionale Milano and AC Milan was abandoned after the visitors' goalkeeper Dida was struck on the shoulder by an object thrown from the crowd.

Merk decision
Plastic bottles and fireworks were among the objects launched from behind the Milan keeper's goal and German referee Markus Merk made a swift decision to suspend the action and take both sets of players off the Giuseppe Meazza pitch and into the dressing rooms.

Shevchenko goal
Milan, who won the first leg 2-0 last week, had scored a 30th-minute goal through Andriy Shevchenko to lead 3-0 on aggregate but shortly after Nerazzurri midfield player Esteban Cambiasso had a goal disallowed, play was suspended.

Match abandoned
An attempt to resume the game was made at 22.40CET but within seconds further objects landed on the pitch and the referee immediately abandoned the match, with 75 minutes on the clock.

UEFA decision
Referee Merk will now submit his report to the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body, who will determine whether or not tonight's result stands. But there seems little doubt that Inter's European campaign is over - and in bitterly disappointing circumstances.

Y don't u juz call off the game?

1) Dida, an innocent Milan goalkeeper is injured due to an object thrown by the Inter fan. I know that Cambiasso's goal is called off by the referee, but still the fans reacted violently + childishly to this issue.
2) Milan has already won 3 - 0 in aggregate
3) I know that Inter still has around 15 minutes to go, but I don't think that they can score 3 goals within 15 minutes.

And pls, I don't want to see Merk end up to be another Anders Frisk.......

Milan move into last four
Tuesday, 12 April 2005
By Matthew Spiro at Giuseppe Meazza

AC Milan booked their place in the last four of the UEFA Champions League in unsatisfactory circumstances after the second leg of their quarter-final with FC Internazionale Milano was abandoned due to crowd trouble.

Merk swift
Plastic bottles, flares and an umbrella were among objects thrown from the crowd behind Milan goalkeeper Dida, who was struck on the shoulder by one firework 72 minutes into the match. German referee Markus Merk made a swift decision to take both sets of players off the Giuseppe Meazza pitch and into the dressing rooms.

Shevchenko goal
Milan, who won the first leg 2-0 last week, had taken a 30th-minute lead through Andriy Shevchenko to lead 3-0 on aggregate but shortly after Nerazzurri midfield player Esteban Cambiasso had a goal disallowed, play was suspended. After a 20-minute break play was resumed, but Merk abandoned the game moments later when more objects landed on the field.

UEFA decision
A decision by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Board will determine whether or not tonight's result stands but there seems little doubt that Inter's European campaign is over - and in bitterly disappointing circumstances.

Early bookings
It was Milan, despite the absence of suspended midfield player Gennaro Gattuso, who enjoyed the game's first chance. After early yellow cards to Gattuso's replacement Massimo Ambrosini, as well as Inter pair Kily González and Marco Materazzi, Andrea Pirlo curled a free-kick narrowly wide of the right-hand post.

Smart save
Inter produced their first effort on goal moments later as Juan Sebastián Verón, the home side's most dangerous attacking player in the early stages, struck a powerful drive from 25 metres that forced Dida into a smart save.

Deadlock broken
With the fit-again Adriano marshalled by Jaap Stam, Inter failed to get the early goal they wanted and their task became even more daunting on 30 minutes when Milan opened the scoring. Shevchenko picked up possession on the right side of the penalty area and unleashed a superb left-footed shot that swung inside Francesco Toldo's right-hand post. It was the Ukrainian's 13th career strike against Inter and left the Nerazzurri needing an improbable four goals to go through.

Dida record
Unfazed, Inter were quickly on the attack and Dida - hoping for a Champions League record sixth consecutive clean sheet - did well to tip Kily's long-range effort around the post on 33 minutes, before Adriano was off target with his first shot of the night. Milan stood firm at the back, however, and could even have doubled their lead before the break as Cafu headed Shevchenko's hanging cross wide when well placed.

Adriano injured
Mancini made two changes at half-time, with Sinisa Mihajlovic and Julio Cruz replacing Cristiano Zanetti and Kily as the home side reverted to a 4-4-2 formation. He was forced to make a third substitution seven minutes later when Adriano sustained an injury and made way for Obafemi Martins.

Instant impression
The Nigerian striker made an instant impression, bursting past Stam with his first touch before seeing a low shot stopped by Dida. Milan's Dutch defender appeared uncomfortable against the pace of Martins and his slip offered the substitute another glimpse of goal on the hour, but this time his shot was easily saved.

Match abandoned
Inter midfield player Cambiasso thought he had restored parity on the night when his header squeezed in at the far post but referee Merk disallowed the effort for a push and promptly booked the Argentinian for dissent. Moments later the evening's unsavoury events began to unfold and the match was brought to a premature close.

I couldnt believe what I saw, it was crazy...But you can understand why it happened, Inter should of had 2 penalties, Shevchenko should of been sent-off for head-butting Materazzi and had a goal ruled out, because of what? a non-existent foul on Dida???

I feel so sorry for Dida, I mean what the hell? Is that guy lucky or what I mean how many times can a player be hit or nearly hit by a flare??? Oh, I heard Dida suffered 1st degree burns from that flare...it was a little sick to hear the Inter fans "cheering" when Dida got hit...
