Valencia to be the only Spanish team in CL after Wednesday.
I hope so, plus I wish Valencia will be crowned the champions of Europe as well. I can't forget when they reached the final of the champions league in two successive years and they lost against Real Madrid and Bayern, they had an impressive squad. I hoped they would have won at least one of those finals, maybe it happens this season.

That's a really long chance for them to win it but I will definetly be keeping my fingers crossed. They have a good team now but they really lack consistency. Anyway they really have a big chance of advancing but Inter shouldn't be underestimated. Good news is Vicente will be able to play.

I agree with this point, lack of consistency is the most apparent point of weakness in the team. Regarding their match against Inter, they have to do their best not to concede and I think that they're capable of achieving that.

But what about Baraja? When will he be back from the injury?

So the team that had half its key players injured was leading the table and when these key players returned, wonders were expected to happen, right? I see them lost the lead, can m_elayyan, sateeh, etc explain that to me?

Albelda rejects offer

Valencia captain David Albelda has rejected his club's latest contract offer, with Barcelona poised to swoop for the Spain midfielder.

Albelda, 29, has worn the armband at Valencia since the departure of Gaizka Mendieta in 2001 and is reported to have been tabled a 100,000 euro/week offer by the club where he has spent his entire professional career.

But his agent Alberto Toldra confirmed that the initial offer has been rejected on the basis that is insufficient for the man who captained Los Che to UEFA Cup and La Liga glory in 2004.

"Today the option to sign is impossible because the money offered is insufficient," he claimed. "However, we are still ready to talk and have time on our side."

The player's current deal expires in June 2009 and with reigning Liga champions Barcelona reportedly keen Valencia could cash-in on Albelda this summer, should he reject their next proposal.

Albelda has 40 caps for the Spanish national team.

100K per week is not sufficient? WTF? Barca could use a player like Albelda, I hope he extends for Valencis though.

I always thought Albelda was a great leader and solid player through the middle of the pitch. He's in many different ways Valencia's version of Antonio Conte.

it was a tough period but the next 13 match are easier compared to the prevoius matches, so i predict that we will start collecting points while the other teams have tough games and they will face each other.

next week we will be back at the top after thrashing real :D

Four Weeks Each For Beckham And Reyes

Real Madrid have confirmed that both Jose Antonio Reyes and David Beckham will be on the sidelines for around a month with respective knee injuries.

Both the players have damaged the internal lateral ligament of the knee, with Beckham's slightly more serious that Reyes'.

"The injuries to Jose Antonio Reyes and David Beckham have been confirmed," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The Sevillian [Reyes] has suffered a grade I-II sprain to the internal lateral ligament of the left knee. The estimated time that he will be out is between three and four weeks.

"The case of David Beckham is slightly more serious. The Englishman has suffered a grade II sprain to the internal lateral ligament of the right knee.

"The estimated time he will be out is around four weeks. Both will therefore miss Real Madrid's upcoming games."

Both the players will thus miss the Bayern Munich clash and the 'El Clasico', as well as two more league games, and England and Spain's Euro 2008 qualifiers - Beckham looked set for an international recall too.

The silver lining, of course, is that neither of the two have actually broken a ligament, which would have required an operation, and a 6-8 week rehabilitation period.
