umpkin:if you know there is a program for cl games(my tv program shows it on friday evenings) when they show all the highlights, and interviews with the players, 30minutes lasting show, and when the draw was made they said that. I was surprised myself also, obviously surprises happen but i was pretty sure lyon and real will go through as they will.
i am surprised though that you wouldnt pick arsenal group as one of the hardest, cause well porto is not a bad team and cska has showd potential before, hamburg obviously dissapointed totally, but because of their injury problems.
but with all the honest, group A, well yeah bremen showd especially last year that they are a though team, no doubt about that, but well the quality of chelsea and barca squad is just so much better. i wouldnt say though that i am totally surprised, although what i would say, is that chelsea seemed to "help" bremen a bit, i didnt see chelsea playing at their best against bremen, they looked unimpressive, couple of shots on goal, yeah, some lucky deflection from bremen defens, but overall, with the quality chelsea has, they didnt play as good as they can.

yeah i know that show, i guessed i didn't watch that episode. anyway i agree, right from the beginning it was obvious real and lyon would qualify, the more i think about it the funnier it gets. group a was at the first glance the toughest group no questions asked, 3 teams that will battle extremelly hard for the 2 places, and any of those 3 that fails to qualify would be missed the later stages of the competition. that's why that is the toughest group. like i said i think valencia's group is the second hardest, and yeah arsenal, porto, cska and hamburg make quite a competitive group. again more competitive than real's. too bad hamburg proved too weak, otherwise that would have been one great fight in that group.

Fabio Capello admitted that Real Madrid were lucky to come away from the Mestala with three points.

"It's very hard to win here. It had been a year since they last lost here."
Valencia were well on top throughout the game, but were found wanting when it came to finishing..
"Villa is a great and very dangerous player, so his injury really damaged his team," said Capello. "He's an important footballer for Valencia."

Valencia president Juan Soler insists Chelsea have not made an offer for Spain striker David Villa and warned any interested clubs they will have to start negotiations at £100million.

Reports in the English press on Tuesday morning suggested Villa is at the top of Jose Mourinho's wish-list during the January transfer window but Soler is adamant Los Che will only let him leave if the player's buy-out clause of £100million is met.
Soler said: 'Officially we have not received any interest or an offer from Chelsea for Villa.
'I met (Valencia sporting director Amedeo) Carboni this morning and he didn't mention anything regarding any possible interest from Chelsea for our striker.
'We have heard rumours but that is all it is.
'We have no intention of selling him. But should any club be interested, they could sit down and negotiate his buy-out clause, which is currently worth €150million (£100million).'
Villa scored 25 goals in La Liga last season and was reportedly the subject of a failed £15million bid from Chelsea in the summer.
The 24-year-old, who has struck five goals in 12 league appearances this campaign, is under contract at the Mestalla until June 2013.
'Villa is a crucial player for us now and in the future,' added Soler.
Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen is currently in Valencia with the Premiership champions' youth team, who play a friendly against their Valencia counterparts on Wednesday.
Arnesen insisted he was unaware of any interest in Villa when quizzed on the subject by the Spanish media.
He said: 'I don't know anything.
'That is an issue of the first team and those matters are dealt with by coach Jose Mourinho and chief executive Peter Kenyon.'
Arnesen, a former Valencia player, admitted he was a fan of Villa, but insisted the Blues already possessed a strong squad.
'He is a very good player, but at Chelsea we already have very good players,' he added

The thing is,that when chelsea start to show interest in you,the big money attracts the player too.big wages n all.its not about the club only.Valencia arent going to run over the EPL the way chelsea will.they're not even in the top 5 in spain rite now,though i do expect them get a CL spot come the end of the season.but anyway,if chelsea show enough interest,i think villa would be tempted to move there if you keeping the big money and the chance to win more trophies in mind.his chances of moving to chelsea would be better than moving to juventus atleast.

I know that, but isn´t it silly when player agrees with that "sky high" clause?
I mean, if a player wants to change clubs, and his current club doesn´t want to give him away, he must wait until some club is ready to pay ridicolous sum of money for him and practically he is stuck in that club.
