Arabian Club To 'Sheik’ Up Cristiano Ronaldo’s Move To Barça?
Reports emanating from Catalunya have indicated that there may be a three-way move that would facilitate Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to FC Barcelona at the end of the current season.

Jorge Mendes has revealed that the owner of Saudi Arabian giants Al-Ittihad "will do whatever he can for Barça”, and the information has been confirmed by the club that recently bagged Figo.

Sheik Mansour Al-Balawi (pictured next to Figo after the Portuguese veteran was signed by the Jeddah club) may well step up and stump up the 45-50 million Euros that would convince the Glazers to relinquish their grip on the number 7

The link between Al-Ittihad and Barça were established by Barcelona President Joan Laporta and cemented in a recent visit to the Middle East by the Barça boss.

The bilateral agreement, signed last December, allows for two friendly matches and the construction of six football academies.

A spokesman for Al-Ittihad backed up claims that the Sheik will intervene if needed: “Yes, it’s true that he [Sheik Mansour Al-Balawi] will do what’s necessary to help Barcelona sign a great player like Cristiano.”

It looks like there’ll be plenty to talk about as initial claims of Figo signing up were laughed at – but the truth was different. Could it be that the Sheik, one of the richest men in the Middle East, is about to 'Sheik’ up the transfer market for friend Laporta?

Villarreal Announce Ayala Capture

Roberto Fabián Ayala will sign for Villarreal on a free transfer in the summer after he failed to agree a new deal with Valencia, the Yellow Submarine have announced.

The Argentina international, who will be 34 in April, will pen a three-year contract at El Madrigal when his current deal at Mestalla expires.

"Villarreal have signed Ayala, who will play for the club from next season," read a statement on the club's official website.

Ayala recognised recently that he was likely to move at the end of the current season as there was no offer of negotiations from Valencia.

There was a breakdown in communication between the player, his agent Gustavo Mascardi and los Ché sporting director Amedeo Carboni last summer.

Mascardi was infuriated when Valencia stated that they would only put an offer on the table after Ayala had undergone a full medical check and criticised Carboni's lack of experience at the negotiating table.

That led to Valencia withdrawing their offer to discuss extending his stay at the club and Villarreal have been linked with move for his services for several months.

Despite being linked with Liverpool, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur, Ayala has opted to move locally to join the South American contingent at El Madrigal.

After coming through the ranks at Ferro Carril Oeste in his native Argentina, Ayala moved to River Player in 1993 and soon attracted the attention of European scouts.

He opted to move to Napoli in 1995 and then made a big-money switch to AC Milan three years later.

In 2000 he joined Valencia and was a key figure as the club won the league title in 2001-02 and again two seasons later, when they also captured the UEFA Cup.

Ayala, who has played in three World Cups and won an Olympic Gold Medal in Athens, is set to make his 107th appearance for his country on Wednesday evening when they take on France in Paris.

Im surprised with the Villareal switch.Nevertheless, its Villareal's gain. He's a fantastic defender. The best from south america imo.
In the history of south america? Nah, you have some more important players than Ayala. I like a lot him, tbh. He reminds me to Pasarella.
