You can see on the on the replay that Ivanovic goes out of his way to try an avoid contact. It was 50/50 and up to the ref.

The second red card was shocking really, yeah he forgave Torres in the first half but he showed him a red when he received a foul ffs! Just minutes after he had showed another. On the same logic he could have showed a red to Rooney for the foul he committed while on a yellow, at least that was a foul.
