We have a better midfield than United.

Its not like Essien was of much use last season (even Romeu got more playing time last season) Meireles though I was disappointed with.

Ramires, Lampard, Mikel, Romeu, that's 4 players for two spots. I'm guessing Oscar will be tried there at some point too (we also have De Bruyne but he's on loan).

I'm not fond of our midfield but we'll get along just fine in the league IMO.

Pusan Daewoo Royals have better midfield than United.

He's a step over Bendtner and Chamakh thats for sure. I was happy we bought him when i thought he might be used as a sub for Judas, but as a starter, he's a significant downgrade, and not really good enough to be depended on to consistently score.

I have a more positive opinion of him. I'm content with his signing actually, as i consider him an upgrade over both Theo and Gervinho. He's not flashy, he isn't special, but he's a solid player that gets the job done. I like him to be honest.

I don't see how Arsenal fans can't all be disillusioned with the "project" there. It seems obvious that the club isn't going to move forward until whoever is behind the transfer policy leaves (Wenger or the owners).

The owners first and foremost. As long as they are still running the club, it is not going forward. Wenger is obviously also compliant with them, but i see Kroenke and Hill Wood as the biggest problems Arsenal have.

What exactly are they aiming for? I don't understand. Are they purely trying to make money at the expense of any success on the pitch (other than finishing 4th to get CL money)?

Money is obviously their sole concern. We're making money, so they're happy and consider the club to be a success. If success on the pitch comes, the merrier, if it doesn't come, then it isn't much of a concern to them obviously.

Wenger is making a shitload of money himself, he makes more than purple face ffs, so he's content with working with such ridiculous constraints.

They are aiming for making whatever money they can make without competing or acheiving anything, I mean, just read this load of BS from Gazidis (their Marrotta, though Wenger seems to be ze boss in overall...):

"We are an incredibly transparent football club. We publish our accounts and they get analysed. I don't think there is a big secret what our financial capability is. We are also very explicit about the fact that we live within our means. There is no great mystery about this. Can we compete at top salary levels? Yes we can, but we have an ethos at the club - the way Arsene expresses it is that it is not about individual players, it is what happens between them."

"The way we train, the way we play is all about passing, communication, movement, intelligence, anticipation and technical execution. All of these types of things, it is very much a team ethos. I think it is one of the things that makes us resilient to the loss of an individual player and, over time, we have seen Arsenal lose some really significant players but bounce back strongly."

"That's not something that just happens by accident. It doesn't happen by accident that Ian Wright is succeeded by a Thierry Henry is succeeded by an Adebayor is succeeded by a van Persie. It is not just happy coincidence. It is part of the ethos of the club, very much based around a team, very much based around giving young players an opportunity to step up and step forward and show what they can do."

"We give a lot of thought to our wage structure. Within an overall constraint, if you are paying four or five players superstar wages, it restricts what you are able to do with other players and there are no hard and fast rules on any of that. We think very very carefully about it and there is a pretty hard and fast measured stick by which you can judge or overall decisions over time."

P.S Arsenal paid 155m for salaries last season, less then the bigger 3 obviously, but gotta laugh at how this mofo is talking like the is paying cheap salaries for a squad filled with quality, when in reality its paying over the odds in a squad that only has a few of them.

Modern football is ridiculous and disgusting.

I didn't know that.
