Still a classless gesture. Again, he doesn't like Evra because he revealed his racist remark?
why are u assuming the reason he snubbed the handshake was because evra revealed his racist remark? suarez gets insulted by a comment by evra refering to his origins and its not a big deal because there is no history of racism. he replies and gets an 8 match ban even after evra admits suarez is not a racist. anyone is bound to get pissed off.

What was the reason then? Why did he shake Evra's hand at the beginning of the game which led to his 8 game ban?

John Terry was accused of racism- gets charged and has a chance to defend himself in court

Suarez was accused of racism- gets charged by the league, has no chance to defend himself in court, gets 8 match ban...

even if Evra then says that Suarez is not racist this will hang over him forever,if i was Suarez i wouldn't be too keen to shake his hand either

Refusing to shake hands is no big deal but it certainly had to do with the controversy which led to his 8 game ban. Preet believes it wasn't the reason, what's it then?
I don't think she argued against that. She just said that Suarez's refusal to shake Evra's hand wasn't based on a racist motive.

So because they weren't going to let Suarez defend himself Evra had to keep quiet? It wasn't Evra who banned him, he probably needs to think of quitting the league if he's so sad about the way he was treated.

I didn't say it was racist.

Not a racist gesture for sure but classless nonetheless, which doesn't surprise me at all coming from Suarez. He refuses to shake hands because Evra revealed his racist remark? Reminds me of Amrosini criticizing Chiellini for reporting what Ibra did to Storari.

no i am saying that Suarez seems to feel that he has been harshly treated here,by all accounts there are holes in BOTH sides of the story and Suarez probably thinks that Evra has cried racism and this was the beginning and end of his trial.

put it this way.....if you were accused of being racist and given a huge fine without truly being allowed to defend your actions, would you want to shake hands with the person?

Evra is equally disgusting. I'm not defending him here and FA's inconsistency in punishing racism doesn't matter to me. Suarez used racist remarks, he got banned (harsh or not, doesn't matter either). Not shaking hands was a classless thing to do, that's what I'm saying.
You don't know what really happened Hoori. Surez said that Evra was using similar insults, didn't he?

A: You fucking Spic. I will fuck your mother and your kids.
B : Shut up, nigger!

A:    He called me a nigger. I insists he's banned

IIRC Evra also insulted Suarez and it was smthg about his south american origin, wasn't it?

In Suarez's place I too wouldn't have shaken Evra's hand and I was gonna do even more.

I know what you are saying but refusing to shake hands was always going to worsen the things, as it actually did. It's not Evra's fault that FA hasn't charged him for using racist remarks or that Suarez was not given any chance to defend himself. Fact is that what he said to Evra was wrong and he had to be punished for it. Not shaking hands just shows he's not feeling sorry at all for what he did. Shame really as I used to like him a lot. Evra on the other hand has always disgusted me.

And I don't buy these stories about Suarez using those remarks in a friendly way or that in Uruguay (or in Spanish language) that shit is not considered racist. There are also a few phrases we use in Farsi to call people with darker skins and they aren't meant to be racist yet they are offensive if used anywhere else in the world. Suarez has played in Europe since 2006, he surely knows the difference unless he is really too stupid.

Yeah, that was a weak excuse indeed. Same thing you said about Iran goes for Croatia too. But even if it's normal to call a black man "negrito" in Uruguay, why would he say that to Evra during an argument? "Shut up, you Muslim" is offensive, unlike "Are you a Muslim?" or "Sissoko is a Muslim". Same in this case. "Evra is a negrito" isn't offensive, but "shut up, Negrito", "hey negrito, be quiet" etc are offensive. It's all in the context.
