Yup, Bromwich played a very good game against United today. But the goal could have been prevented had Jara been playing from the start, Reid is not an RB and it showed, too many times his poor positioning forces Brunt to have to do his job for him, Brunt is obviously not so good at defending, A.Young used the same trick to dribble him twice, except the second time it resulted in a goal too. Still, Bromwich played a good game overall, they gave United a run for their money. They had their own injuries and absences to contend with too

Anyone see/read Villas Boas, post match conference, he knew about Stoke's style of football, but he didn't expect it would be this aggressive. Welcome to the EPL Villas Boas, where some teams just don't play any "foot"ball.

The game can be played that way, suck it.

He was along with Rooney their best players in today's game. Dangerous all game long, he has very good crossing ability, and while he isn't the best dribbler, he's good at finding some space and squeezing in a cross. Also, it seems he has adapted very fast to united's style and has already struck an understanding with Rooney especially.

Only in England, where referees allow too much physical contact.
In every other league at least Terry and Shawcross would've been red carded. If i'm not mistaken they didn't got even a yellow card.

Yup, watch how Stoke will get frustrated by the refs whistling the whole time when they play in Europe. I expect them to flop big time there.

The only positive from this game is Torres seems to be fresh this season, ey Gabriel?

I didn't say it was wrong. The rules in England allow it, so they're well within their rights. I do think however, the EPL should change their approach a bit, and stop encouraging so much physical contact, makes for some horrible football sometimes.

But surely there has to be room for the 'sport' aspect of it, we can't have 20 teams all playing a non-physical passing game, that'd be just as horrible. Teams like Barcelona and Arsenal are a valuable part of football but if we were to move more towards that mentality as the standard one of top flight football it would enable a vast club and international oligarchy to develop, even more so than is currently in place. Many teams would struggle to compete and you'd end up with an even staler product. The Stokes of this world are an attempt to counter-balance this. Perhaps they get too much leeway in the PL which is wrong obviously but to detest them for actually trying to compete with the big boys is in itself, anti-football.

Stoke.

Shawcross was booked. It was for a challenge on Torres quite early on.

I actually didn't have a problem with the general refereeing of Stoke-Chelsea. Chelsea should have had two penalties, though.

The general decisions of the ref in West Brom-Man Utd were worse in my book - the guy didn't have a clue what was worth a booking and what wasn't.

I said, they're well within their rights. What more do you want from me? :D

Don't like them, can't help that. and stop making it sound like you either play like Stoke or you play like Arsenal, the Serie A doesn't allow such physical play, yet they don't have 20 Barcelona's do they?

I hope Stoke make it to the group of the Europa League, because I'll be curious to see how they'll get on with European refs.

You can't even call this anachronistic product 'football', it's old man ball chess.
