Liverpool have confirmed that the club have re-signed left-back Fabio Aurelio on a two year contract.
The Brazilian had left the Merseyside club earlier this summer, after failing to agree a new contract on a pay-as-you- play basis.
But now Aurelio has been offered a new deal by manager Roy Hodgson who is believed to be a keen admirer of the player.

"I asked the club to find out whether Fabio had found a new club.” Hodgson told Liverpooltv

"When we ascertained that he hadn't, we invited him back to Melwood so both myself and my staff, and the medical team could properly assess the player.

"We were both very impressed and I am delighted we were able to re-sign Fabio."

Aurelio has been included in the Liverpool squad that travelled to Germany on Saturday for the friendly against Borussia Moenchengladbach.

 @ the circumstances of the deal.

His impact will surely depend on his fitness, i like how he plays when fit if he can stay fit the whole season he's a solid lb.

His contract with us expired, he asked for an unreasonable salary after only one good season, the board didn't give in to his demands and he eventually ended up going to Milan on a free and he didn't get the salary he wanted.

Oh i see, Joe Cole :D

He's a very good fullback when fit for an extended period of time. :agree:
yup, with this i expect liverpool to sign a relatively cheap lb and try to enforce other areas of their team.

Can't say i agree or disagree but they seem willing to take the gamble on Aurelio again.

I think Hodgson realized that Fabio can be an important player at the club if he isn't expected to be a regular fixture in the side. He can play well at left back, left midfield, attacking on the left, and he can play in the center.

I think it's important that we have at least one left back, there's no telling how long the Mascherano situation will be drawn out. Though I did think we'd just end up keeping Insua.

Fernando Torres Will Leave Liverpool Due To A Lack Of Silverware - Spain Striker David Villa
Barcelona ace believes Torres may join Chelsea next summer...

Fernando Torres
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres will quit Anfield for Chelsea next summer if they fail to yield any silverware this season, according to Barcelona star David Villa.

Spain's goalscoring hero at World Cup 2010, believes his fellow countryman is feeling hard done to by Anfield officials after they slapped a high valuation on his head following a summer of speculation linking him to Premier League holders Chelsea.

However, Torres now looks inclined to remain on Merseyside for another campaign at least, although Villa has warned that failure to win a trophy, or qualify for the Champions League, this season will spell the end of Torres' time with the Reds.

“The only reason [Fernando Torres] Nando ever left his beloved Atletico [Madrid] was because he knew he had to be at a club where he could win the highest honours – but that has not happened at Liverpool," Villa told the Daily Star.

“I loved Valencia but I knew I had to leave if I wanted to win the biggest prizes in football.

“This is Liverpool’s last chance to keep him. They have to prove they are *capable of challenging on all fronts this season, otherwise he will be gone.”

The 28-year-old Spanish sharp-shooter also confessed he was shockedTorres had not departed for Stamford Bridge already this summer.

“I am actually a little surprised. It looks like Nando is staying [at Liverpool]. After I spoke with him at the World Cup I thought he would sign for Chelsea," Villa added.

“I think it must only be that Chelsea did not meet Liverpool’s valuation. Because, if they had, I am sure he would have made the move.”

Villa believes his friend isn't motivated by money and that the only reason Torres is unhappy at Liverpool is that he wants to laden his mantlepiece with silverware.

As he enters the peak of his playing career, Torres' absence from the Champions League is something that upsets Villa.

He concluded: “Torres is happy at *Liverpool in every sense apart from the football. He loves the city, the fans and the players but he is the best striker in the world. He will go if he has to.

“He would not sign for *Manchester City because, for him, the money is not the most important thing. But if Liverpool fail to win anything I am sure he will be at Chelsea next summer.

“He was promised things at *Liverpool that just haven’t *happened. They said they would build a squad that would challenge *Manchester United for the title – and it just hasn’t happened.

“They sold Xabi Alonso last year and are going to sell Javier Mascherano this summer. I can totally understand Nando’s frustration.

“The best all-round striker in the world isn’t playing in the *European Cup during his peak years and that’s just not right.

“If the new coach and players win something then I am sure he will stay. If not, I am sure he will go and nobody could blame him.”
Barcelona players just need to voice their opinions on everything, it's like a disease. :howler:

Interviewed by Dir Emotions, Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, considered a Barcelona target, has declared: "I am part of Barcelona, I am a shareholder of the club like my grandfather. I am attached to the blaugrana colours, but now I am Arsenal captain. In London I grew up thanks to Arsene Wenger, the most important man of my life after my father, and he doesn't want me to leave".

Just mixing it up.

But outside of Rooney, there isn't much to United. I could see them having a season like Liverpool did last year if they get a bit of the injury bug.
Just like last year and Man U finished 2nd. While Liverpool finishing 7th. No way in hell Liverpool is finishing ahead of Man U

Does Man Utd playing a chunk of last season with virtually no fit defenders not count as them having injury problems?
Exactly. They lost several points in that period that they otherwise would not have lost if it hadn't been for the unlucky and ridiculous amount of injuries to their backline.
