I am surprised that everyone is coming out of the woodwork to praise each EPL team after they play Derby. :lazy:
to be fair to us though...we did beat Sevilla 3-0..Sevilla are without a doubt one of the top teams in spain,no?Man City are a pretty good team too this season..and we beat them..

I agree about Derby though..and i for one am not going to jump on the bandwagon..its too early in the season to say if arsenal really is going to win the league.

While you can't say Arsenal will win the league, I think it is already apparent that the youngsters have developed enough that you are now capable of winning the league.

I think Chelsea have ruled themselves out due to sacking Mourinho and I think Liverpool will draw too often with average teams due to their rotation policy.

That just leaves Man U and Arsenal in my book who are capable, but I think Man U will shade it due to their greater squad depth.

Newcastle impress again. They're playing some good football there.
Indeed, but here we go again:

Newcastle United striker Michael Owen will undergo a second scan in a week on his nagging groin problem, with surgery a possibility for the injury-jinxed England star.

The 27-year-old had to be replaced during the 3-1 victory over West Ham United, having also been subbed during the 1-0 defeat at Derby County last Monday.

Magpies boss Sam Allardyce confirmed: "It is still a groin problem, which we will have to look into a little deeper because it has become persistent.

"We will make a decision from there. We will probably scan it again, have another specialist opinion and then see where we go from there.

"I am worried that he asked to come off because he felt it, whereas it was me who took him off against Derby.

"So since then, even though the scan was clear, there's a persistent area which is causing him a problem. We need to look deeper into that.

"We will look after Michael Owen's interests more than anybody else's. He is our most expensive asset, so we must not go on any longer than we need to, we must address the injury straight away."

Owen had scored five goals in four games for club and country before his most recent outings, having only recently recovered fully from a long-term knee injury.

Fabregas has and so has Clichy..Diaby hasnt neither has Walcott,Bentdner,Senderos or Hoyte..

.
the same could be said of Arsenal..our first 11 are good enough..but our second 11 are too inexperienced and not mature enough.and with our luck with injuries,i'm pretty sure we are going to do the same.

Arsenal bullish over £200m income

Arsenal's move to the Emirates Stadium has reaped rewards
Arsenal claim their new position as Britain's richest football club shows they do not need foreign investment.

Latest figures reveal the club's turnover has broken the £200m barrier after the move to the Emirates Stadium.

"These results demonstrate we really don't need any outside investment," managing director Keith Edelman told BBC Radio 5live.

"We secured all the players we wanted in the summer and manager Arsene Wenger did not spend his budget."

The Gunners have been subject to takeover rumours after Alisher Usmanov increased his share in the club to 21%.

The Uzbek businessman's company, Red and White, is chaired by former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein, who claims foreign investment is needed to compete with the likes of Chelsea.

But Edelman told the BBC: "We are looking at a position where we don't believe we need additional monies.

"We had £73.9m cash at the year's end and we are telling people today we've got increased cash balances at this juncture."

The move to the new stadium from Highbury means the Gunners are generating more than £3m a game.

A statement from the Arsenal Supporters' Trust said the group was delighted with the club's current financial position.

"These results are a testament to the success of the Emirates project. These results are the fruits of opening the new stadium on time and on budget," the statement read.

"The club have sown the seeds for a bright new future.

"The AST studies carefully the different models of how football clubs are run. Arsenal's model, based on sensible borrowing to invest in facilities that generate an increased income stream, is a model we commend.

"AST reiterates its opposition to any hostile takeover at Arsenal."

BBC sports editor Mihir Bose says Arsenal can now argue that this brings them into the big league of European earners, just behind Real Madrid.

"Manchester United will have to put on another £32m from last year to match the Gunners - Chelsea will have to show an increase of nearly £50m; Liverpool £80m and Tottenham £127m to match Arsenal," stated Bose.

He added that Arsenal project that the "Emirates effect will continue to produce vast sums of money for years".

And on David Dein's ambitions?

"One well-placed Emirates source told me: 'David always sees himself as number one. He wants to be chairman. The Arsenal board puts Arsenal first. They see themselves as the custodians of the club. That is the difference'," said Bose.

Amazing the difference the new stadium has made to Arsenal. Looks like they could compete with Man U financially within a couple of years.

Wenger might even be able to afford an experienced player soon.:D

Arsenal profits to provide £70m transfer warchest

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been promised a mammoth £70million transfer kitty after Arsenal revealed themselves to be one of Europe's richest clubs.

Figures unveiled this morning show the Gunners' move to the Emirates Stadium has driven a near 50% increase in turnover to more than £200million for the year ending May 31, 2007.

That sum means they are only edged into second place in the continent's money league by Real Madrid.

But with operating profit of £51.2million, up an amazing 274%, the Barclays Premier League club now have a level of profitability far in excess of Real.

Match-day revenues of £3.1million per game at their new 60,000 home are double those generated at Highbury, and have seen the Gunners leapfrog main domestic rivals Manchester United and Chelsea - whose respective turnover for the same period was £167.8m and £152.8m.

The revelation of Arsenal's wealth is an ample response to those critics who questioned the effect the cost of relocation to Ashburton Grove would have on the club, and in particular Wenger's transfer funds.

But after reiterating that Wenger did not spend all his budget this summer, delighted managing director Keith Edelman claimed the Frenchman would now have previously unheard of sums available to reinforce his squad.

'I think we are in a very good position,' Edelman said. 'Clearly Arsene's performance and the team's performance on the pitch has been outstanding, obviously backed up by our very strong financial position.

'We gave Arsene a budget in the summer and he didn't even spend all of it on transfers and hopefully we'll be able to carry that forward into future years.'

He added: 'We have got plenty of financial firepower to makes the transfers Arsene wants to make.

'We had over £70million of cash at the end of the year and if Arsene wants to spend that money we will make it available.'

The results posted this morning have been achieved despite the lack of a mega-rich foreign owner, the source to which most rivals have turned to increase their clout.

With Red and White Holdings Limited, backed by Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, recently increasing their stake in the club to around 21%, rumours have abounded of a possible takeover bid.

But Edelman insists the results show there is no reason to change the way in which the club is run.

'We think it's very important as a board that the club develops revenues it generates itself and is not dependent on people putting money in every year, because that's not a very stable basis on which to run a club,' he told the Arsenal's website.

'We regard ourselves as custodians of the club and fans as well. It's important that the club does have a stable financial base.'

He added: 'If you look at the shareholders and the look at the board, we are all here because we love the club. Yes we want to run it well as a business, but only because we want to be a great club.

'That could be contrasted with what could be called financial owners, who come to purchase clubs to make money out of them and they don't have that affinity to be a rabid fan - to live, breathe and eat Arsenal Football Club.'

With the new Premier League TV deal yet to be reflected in their figures and the Gunners also set to launch their own TV channel in the new year, it seems everything is in place for the financial success to continue.

English Press: Chelsea To Offer Ronaldinho €16m A Season

The Sun newspaper contends that Chelsea are set to offer troubled Barcelona star Ronaldinho a deal worth 80 million euros over five years...

The Sun has reported that Chelsea's rumoured approach for Ronaldinho is still very much alive, with the London club set to offer the player 16 million euros a season for the next five years, should they agree a transfer with his current club, Barcelona.

The newspaper claims that the Stamford Bridge side is eager to coax the player to the Premiership, offering him almost double his current salary of 8.5 million euros in doing so.

In fact it could end up more than double. With Ronaldinho acquiring Spanish residence, his tax status will change: he'll no longer pay around 20% of his income to the treasury, but rather 43%, drastically slashing his earning potential in Barcelona.

Of course, talk of a move remains mere speculation at this point. A host of prominent Barcelona figures, from president Joan Laporta to coach Frank Rijkaard, have this week come out in support of the embattled Brazilian.

Indeed, the manager went so far as to say that the idea of Ronaldinho leaving the club have never even entered his mind.

As such, talk of a contractual agreement is almost certainly premature, not least because the player's contract, set to expire in 2010, contains a release clause of a mammoth 125 million euros.

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi repeatedly insisted that he was going to sign Ronaldinho, but found such obstacles insurmountable.

It seems to be the case that the same applies to Chelsea supremo Roman Abramovich, only the Russian has had the wisdom not to publicly speculate on the issue.

I think its the time for Arsenal looking for Goalkeeper.. Lehmann is too old and they need Great replacement .

With their transfer budget they can bought World class Goalkeeper.
But please just keep your hand off our Superman.
Maybe they will go for another Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese.

It's not just because derby game ..
No one think they can perform like this after Henry was left.
But now they play more open and dangerous since they not depended on henry.
the midfilder can spread the ball more , even shot them from outside of the box more often.
