So Man Utd managed to convince yet another one of their key players that they're a big team, and they decided to stay despite insisting on leaving. Shame our management doesn't have the same mentality. We could also throw that whole "contract argument" out the window too as De Gea's contract was set to expire.

Yep they certainly used the whole transfer farce to their advantage. Real didn't push hard enough which is just plain stupid. When your dealing with a club like real and your scum it's always win-win. Whilst we had bayern and they certainly pulled off a great coup from us. #inferiorcomplex

How can you praise United here? They just lost 30m+Navas and De Gea will go to Madrid next year anyway (for free!).

Not sure if trolling, but De Gea just signed a new 4 year contract :D

Not that I'd praise United though, I mean they agreed to sell him and it only fell through due to incompetence of epic proportiondls.

Imo he most likely signed a new contract because they /VG forced it by saying it's a condition of him playing any more games this season. It's a euro season and De Gea can't afford not playing and possibly losing his starting spot or form for the NT. I expect him to still wanna leave them as soon as he can.

Yep.

I guess it's something like De Gea gets to play and in exchange United gets some money off him.

Agreed. De Gea will get playing time, United will get transfer fee.

United did great business getting him to re-sign, although that came about from a fluke because of the collapsed deal, sometimes things work like that. The reality is that he will leave next summer and they will get a transfer fee, it's delaying the transfer by one year. United only really win from this if De Gea's head is focused. Before the window closed he was all over the place.

He's obviously a much better keeper than Romero, so let's see what happens. He always seemed professional, but it's not the same as being focused.
