PL spend more money than most realise. Liverpool as an example. Ok, it is a big club with large merchandising, but they have done nothing for years and now have just made a first title tilt since the early Benitez days. Their wage bill for last year was £132m (€165m - ours is €115m), which is 64% of their turnover.

I think many clubs in Italy pay 70% of their turnover for wages, which is also disgusting.

Yeah those turnover levels are quite normal, and just about sustainable. It's when you start trying to keep players who want more and more that it becomes an issue balancing against turnover, especially when players see the likes of Lallana on that money.

Juve's total wage bill was €153m in 11/12 and €167m in 12/13...

OK, if you're sure the English include non-playing staff. Football sites tend to include players only.

the financial report says so... that they include all staff including director's remunerations. english football sites state the whole figure, italian sites tend to state the player wages only, sometimes only the take-home pay (after tax figure, which is estimated).

You're right, that £132m for Liverpool does include directors costs (which is only one person there at the time).

I've been positively impressed by Chelsea yesterday, IMO they're above every other team in the PL. Maybe it's too soon to say, but if Mourinho can keep the consistency seen yesterday in the team (it's his second year... And, as himself admitted, his second years are the best, when he has more chemistry and influence on the team, and his records talks alone), we might see a one-horse race in the PL, kind of Manu 2012-13, because Arsenal and Man City IMO, despite having some really good arrows and players, have some problems in defense and lacks a bit of consistency and right mentality (usual for ArseAnal I'd say, while I can't see Pellegrini able to put the right pressure and concentration in the team for the second year in a row). Liverpool, I don't even consider them. Their defense is just laughable, Southampton ripped them up and just the right amount of luck gave them the winner. And without the Biter they lose too much, Ster & Sturr are great but still young and will have their pauses in their first year as "leaders", they won't score 30+ a season (what L'pool needs).

City's defense isn'y so bad, especially now that they signed Mangala.
With Zabaleta/Sagna, Kompany/Mangala and Clichy/Kolarov, they don't have bad options in defense.
It will be a two horse race IMO between City and Chelsea

Rojo for LCB is the best option for this United. Pace, Ball playing and good aerials, all that V. Gaal wants for this position.
