The EPL will always have this competitive disadvantage:
Diego Costa:

"I wished I could go back to Atletico, I'm not going to lie," he told Spanish TV station Movistar Plus while on international duty.

"Everyone knows what happened to me in England, with the language, the weather and everything. But I can't complain because I'm a boy whom the fans love, at Chelsea they respect me.

"I had the chance to go back but I couldn't, because of a few details. I'm grateful to the people at Atletico, to Cholo [Simeone] especially, who has always put his confidence in me.

"Now I am at Chelsea, I'm doing well, the league has started and I'm focused on that. Things are how they are. I hope that Atletico do very well, like last season but this time win titles. I want the best for them, I always feel for them, but I have to do my work at Chelsea."

Costa was part of the Atletico side that won the 2013-14 La Liga title and reached the 2014 Champions League final under Simeone, while he won the league in his first season in England.

Assuming Witsel and Cuadrado go through (seems very likely), amazingly incredible mercato. Couldn't give less than 9.5/10. Only position we could really improve is another huge signing like James or Isco for AM. Aside from that the team can barely be improved (realistically) barring any big injuries.

I'd give this mercato a solid 9.

We have a competitive midfield, we're much stronger on the flanks, we have depth in defense and a star striker to round it all off. We've strengthened in almost every area and have a much more complete squad that will be competitive on all fronts this season. I do wish we had a little bit more bite in the middle of the park and Matuidi would have been an upgrade over Witsel but for the money and the age it's hard to complain.

Is this team worthy of winning the Champions League?

Hell yes.

Zach has been going mental on him for years now, because of some red card tackle where he broke a guy's ankle 6 years ago. He's literally been waging a war to make the entire forum hate Witsel for several years. :D
Witsel broke the leg of Wasilewski.
to bo honoust: It was not Witsels fault. they both went in hard for the ball.
knowing that Wasil was one of the dirtiest player in the belgian league
the media over here made Wasil a saint and Witsel the devil...

It was not Witsels fault he went in studs first then? Because that's the reason here...

they go both with straight leg to the ball, Wasil doesn't hold back nor does witsel.
it was not witsels intention to do this, maybe a reckless action but not something to hate and bash him so hard for

You know how old Witsel was at the time... 20. He was a kid on the pitch. Was it a horrific challenge. Yes.

De Rossi just took out Pereira with a studs up over the ball challenge. De Rossi was the captain of Roma in that game, and 33 years old. Where's the outcry? Maxi Pereira is in for surgery because of De Rossi going over top of the ball, studs up.

Witsel got crucified for making a very rash and poor challenge at 20 years old. That's fine then, a lesson to him to be less aggressive going into such 50/50 balls. He made a fucking error in judgment at 20. The fact people are still bringing this up 7 years later as though it's some black mark on his character, is far more disgusting than that challenge ever was.

The intention is a different thing. Of course it's not his intention to break someone's leg but it's definitely his fault. One does not enter a duel that way.

Certain posters still think its a 5.5/10 because we "only" sold Pogba for a world record fee.

Seems we struck a deal for Cuadrado 5M loan with option for 20M more - very good deal IMO! He is certainly on a higher level than a 25M player...
Witsel will probably be our 2nd signing as he seems to fly to Turin - I dont know about him - As I said I dont rate him that much, he is a good player but not the level we should aspire to, however there are players who arent that great yet have made a very good impact on their team... A great example was Nocerino for Milan - He never was a great player yet you cant say he didnt do good there...
Also Witsel seems to be a physical player - at lease from what I have seen of him... It would fit our needs. With that saying I still wish we get a more talented player

As for the whole Witsel foul 700 years ago - It shouldnt matter! Players make fouls, sometimes it doesnt cause a major injury and sometimes it does, its just a part of the risks a football player takes and they all aware of it!
Zanchi injured Del Piero back in 99 - He made DP become from god to zero for a few seasons
Ronaldo (the real one) was also injured back then and instead of being remembered the best of all times he wasnt half as good as he was before his injury
Juve fans or even every Italian who wishes Italy to win - Should they now hate Zanchi?! No! its all part of football.. I`m sure he wasnt going into the field with a mission to end DP`s career... Its not one of those wwe telenovelas...

It's definitely a foul on Witsel's behalf and he deserved a red card for it. And probably a lengthy ban too. But fact is, the reason Wasilewski broke his leg is the intensity of his own tackle. Not to mention that it's very likely that Witsel went in the way he did, because he knew Wasyl's reputation and he knew how he'd be coming in too.
