For me it depends - We still need a strong CM
Pogba staying would have made it a 10 out of 10 mercato
Since he left and Pjanic came instead our attacking play (midfield wise) should be around the same - a bit weaker IMO as for our defensive game I`d say we are weaker because Pogba`s physicality will be missed!
Cuadrado and Kovacic/Fabregas would make our mid stronger even if physicality is still missing
Pogba had great physicality but he was not that contributory defensively as people give him credit for. Especially last season he was way more focused on the offensive side. He was certainly no vidal anyway in terms of attacking but also tackling and defending

Yeah I posted something about this early - if you compare James as a CM and Pogba as a CM on whoscored, the defensive stats are relatively similar - interceptions, tackles, etc with Pogba having a slight edge. James has better passing success, key passes, assists, goal production, and is dispossessed less. Pogba beats James handily in aerial wins, shots, and dribbles. That being said, defensively Pogba was no stalwart. He certainly was a physical presence, and was great in transition because of his ability to run with the ball, shield incoming players, but he was also very wasteful. Vidal was much more effective in that role.

James as mezzala would definitely work if we field Marchisio behind him. if we are short on CMs we could even field a 442 with him and Cuadrado potentially

 at calling the players we have bought just good.

Dybala, Higuain, Sandro, Alves, Khedira, Pjanic are just good players. Yeah, that's it.
Nothing wrong with saying they are good players and it has nothing to do with the point im trying to make.

The fact of the matter is we need to add quality every year not just replace quality or we will stay at a similar level. If we added to what we already had instead of weakening one part of our team to make the rest stronger we would if been in a much better position.

I know its not easy to hold on to WC players for their entire careers but we should of demanded more money for them and brought in better replacements.

cuadrado will be our final hit of the transfer period... don't expect more

soon the rumblings will start for Dybala to Barcelona or Real... they will be denied and in a couple of years they'll sell him too like Pogba.

Most Madrid fans never want to see James play as a CM though he was that bad playing there.

According to calciomercato.it moutinho maybe surprise name for colpo di last minute

And Mirror.co.UK said :
Chelsea move for James Rodriguez rejected by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez

But any deal or potential loan could go down to the wire with several clubs - including Chelsea andJuventus- now watching developments closely.
