We seem to mean different things by distributing. Think Alonso, Pirlo, Scholes, Besquets, Modric, or Marchisio's, role in their teams. You are thinking more of Moussa Sissoko style link between defense and midfield, I am thinking more of what Pogba was tasked to do for France. Kante's is purely a ball winner and simple pass player.

A DM distributor (what I have in mind) organizes the midfield and sets the tempo. A regista with some extra defensive duties. With the ball he (while under pressure) picks out passes (must have good passing range and intelligence to do that) to players up the field and can switch play from one side to the other. Without the ball, he has the right off the ball movement to make himself available to team mates under pressure and then does what I described at the beginning of the paragraph. When the other team has the ball, his main duty is not to recover it but rather to be close to the area where the ball is recovered by a Kante-type or a defender so he can receive it quickly and launch it to players on the opposite flank or upfront in space. Thats what marchisio does for us and what Pirlo did before him (with less defensive and more offensive responsibilities given Pirlo's exceptional range). Pjanic will be given that role until marchisio is back. I'd rather we got someone else to do that job capably so that pjanic can be a play maker whether as a CAM in 4312 or CM in 352.

Ben Atia and Rugani are back up for BBC so dont worry about their age.

We want to win the CL now not wait around till he grows into a top player. We need someone who is ready and in a few years if Lemina grows he can take a starting spot.
That was exactly what I was thinking - a water carrier..
Busquets is the best in the world in that role. Kante was perhaps a bad example, but I was going off his role for Chelsea. If you watch him, he held the ball more than any other MF for Conte's Chelsea - off the two games so far. Kante is playing a very different role for Chelsea than he played for Leicester. But Mascherano plays that role well - he just has been a CB in recent years. I'm definitely not thinking of Moussa Sissoko lol - exact opposite. Moussa is box to box.. A pure DM, a water carrier, like Didier Deschamps.

if thats the case then I am pretty sure that we are missing a water carrier (I wasnt familiar with the expression) till december unless Pjanic will take that role (in which case we'd be missing a creative CM or a very good offensive Box to box to take Pogba's place.

Pjanic, Marchisio, Khedira, Lemina (AFCON in Jan), and Asamoah (AFCON in Jan). These are the only midfielders we can actually rely on. The others are worthless. We definitely need one or two mids, and with Cuadrado coming back, we can say mercato chiuso.

Cuadrado is going to be great for us!
Im very impressed by the link up between Alves and Dybala! Alves is truely a great team player! Cuadrado is better in some situations as you can only count on him to mess with their defense but his link up isnt as good as Alves!
I see a 4-4-2 formation 4-2-4 style working well in the future if we want to with Alves and Sandro in defense and Cuad Pjaca on the wings Dybala and Higuain up front of course! In this case I think we can handle our current mid quite well as I see Pjanic Khedira or Pjanic Marchisio as sufficient and Lemina could enter when they are injured...
I must admit I might not rate Lemina as much as you guys but he does has his qualities and is improving on a daily basis!
He impressed me in the friendlies and played extremely well yesterday as well! The only downside for me is that I really cant see him as a Vidal or Pogba kind of player as he seems to develop into a more defensive kind of player!
Lemina to me is the destroyer type as he is very good defensively but doesnt offer much offensively!

As for new signings since we are going to get a CM - I hope we get someone really good - and BTW Matuidi isnt my first choice and honestly I rather see us signing someone else but he is a great team player and an intelligent one! so I wouldnt count him as a bad signing either!

Thoughts on Bakayoko from Monaco, news from France is that we're looking at him,

Around the same time last year Lemina was being mentioned and came out of nowhere

Not sure about Bakayoko, but we got Lemina cause we were impressed with him where he was outmuscling our mid's during the friendly vs OM. It wasn't exactly out of nowhere.

Zaza will be gone before the window closes, Cuadrado looking like he will come in but the same things being repeated about a CM. They wont bring anyone in for the sake of it, only if we can get someone good. Allegri and Beppe keep saying it.

Tuttosport mentioning Ruben Neves
:tuttosport:=

But he will be more expensive than hector. The dragao absolutely love him and with him so young I doubt that we would pay a big price for him. Hector is what we need to give a better attacking dimension but Ruben is an outstanding talent already a captain at such a young age.
