Now with Zaza deal off and Cuadrado back, and considering the realistic exchange of Marchetti for Neto (hopefully Neto goes on loan, or we get some money out of this), our squad looks like:

GKs (3): Buffon, Marchetti, Audero;

RBs (2): Alves, Licht

LBs (2): Sandro, Evra

CBs (5): Bonucci, Barzagli, Chiellini, Benatia, Rugani

CMs (7): Marchisio, Pjanic, Khedira, Asamoah, Lemina, Sturaro, Hernanes

Forwards (6): Dybala, Higuain, Mandzukic, Pjaca, Cuadrado, Zaza

Transfer spending (detracting only Pogba comissions, which were abnormal): 161M [10M (Lemina) + 90M (Higuain) + 30M (Pjanic) + 23M (Pjaca) + 5M (Cuadrado loan) + 3M (Benatia loan)] - 134M [around 80M (Pogba) + 30M Morata + Pereyra (13M) + Isla (4M) + Magnusson (2.5M) + 1.5M (Buchel) + 1M (Gabriel) + 1M (Fiorillo) + 1M (Schiavone) = 27M net spending on fees.

Requirements to register for Serie A is 8 player grown in Italy + 4 homegrown in club or U21, of which one player could count for both, right? Like Marchisio for example.

This is a squad of 25 players;
10 grown in Italy (including Marchisio, Rugani and Audero)
2 homegrown in club (Marchisio + Audero who is also a U21)
2 U21 (Rugani + Pjaca), acheiveing the requirements to register all 25 in Serie A. In Europe one or two of these guys would be cut, I guess.

So as it is, we can register these 25 guys in Serie A, but we clearly have a need for a midfielder.

So it looks like it's either Zaza or Hernanes who will be forced to leave, so a CM is signed. Without selling anyone, and considering we normally spend 50/60M in fees in the market, we have right now around 20M for the new signing. If Zaza leaves, make it around 40M. Hernanes, if he is forced to go, will be for free.

But with the addition of Cuadrado, we are on CM from being good to go. A good CM it is, not a shit one like Matuidi. We need a true DM or a creative CM. I still think we need another creative player in the squad. In the midfield, only Pjanic is creative. If he's injured, we're fucked, we'll become too robotic.

So I'd like Dahoud or stg like that.

Splash 40-50M on Dahoud. That kid will be worth it.
I would love to see us buy one of Saul/Koke, but unfortunately it is way to late for that, there is no way that the pair decides to leave this late. Dahoud would also be a great option and maybe we could get him for 30M. He would also count as U-21.
:rolleyes:

Gladbach is not selling Dahoud, especially this window, and has supposedly already turned down €40M.
We've already sold Xhaka for €45M and are on the verge of making it to the CL again, after winning 3-1 at Young Boys yesterday.

Any idea why he didn't play yesterday? Seems unlikely that he'd move this summer.
He had the flu last week and only played for 30 minutes against Lazio on Saturday.
We also wanted to play more defensively during that away game and opted for Strobl/Kramer in midfield.

Gladbach turned down that offer and if they didnt, Dahoud would have been in Liverpool right now. It's a disease on this forum that folks attribute so much importance to player wishes as if they mattered to the majority of clubs.
Well, players do decide on when they go or stay.
If a player wants to leave, he'll leave at some point.

Though, Dahoud stated himself that he doesn't see a reason why he should leave Gladbach right now.

If Cuadrado is signed, Zaza is clearly out. Will loan him out to a foreign team to make space for a CM. Just loan him to Southampton or stg. DO NOT let him go to another Italian team.

And ideally, Hernanes would also be loaned out, with us paying part of his wages, to clear space for the new midfielder. But I don't like any of the names around. Matuidi seems to be the most likely, and I would despise this signing, because it doesn't bring us the goods technically and because it's a shot in the foot financially. We'll be stuck with an average overrated player with huge salaries. Hernanes 2, only a bit more useful and much more expensive.
