Isco>Marchisio?
@Zacheryah and you said i dont rate players like Marchisio
I did. You overemphias Pogba's great added value when he's in form , but requires to be carried by excellent midfielders.
Marchisio is the player that will carry and lift the team, even if its a team as big as juventus. I have a huge thing for midfielders who make a dramatical positive effect on players around them.

Now thats one thing.

However, i never said this forum isnt full of idiots.

He counts in league but not for CL.

And the new thing is that Pjaca will count as an under 21 player and won't take a place in our roster..I am not sure but it was mentioned in Italian media maybe someone can confirm

I don't necessarily like the thought of "balance" in the midfield. The players don't really function independent of each other. It's not like you need one guy to do *all* the passing and one guy to do *all* the ball-winning.

If we sign Matuidi, he will play LCM, right? So what if the ball goes to the other side of the pitch, will he run there and win it too? No.

It's about finding your playing style and optimizing it. In the past, I would say we were more successful countering because we didn't have the attack that could hold possession and force the opponent to play more timidly. In that scenario, I might prefer Matuidi.

But now, look at this attack. From left to right you can go Alex Sandro, Higuain, Dybala, Alves. They all hold the ball in possession. Now we swapped Pogba for Pjanic. More possession. The equation is almost exponential for me. I'd prefer to add even more possession players in the midfield because they all amplify each other. There were small examples vs. West Ham. Look at Dybala's effectiveness with Alves and Pjanic instead of Licht and Khedira. There were moments when we held the ball on his side of the pitch with like 20 passes. Yes, it would be nice to enjoy some "tiki taka" moments, especially in the CL.

There's a reason certain players have never fit Barca. It's because you need 11 players to play one style, not 10 or 9.

Can you imagine someone like Matuidi at Barca? Well he will recover balls on his side but the drop in possession % would be huge. Not worth it. Can Pjanic replace Pogba's ball winning, and aerial strength? No. But can our *team* have the ball more so that we don't need to win it back? Yes.

Will Higuain and Dybala get more balls and get them quicker? Yes. Isn't that better? Now imagine even more service in the midfield.
I like your chain of thought there.

I don't think we need Matuidi. Asamoah has apparently been doing well, so why not go after someone like Kovacic or Draxler instead. Although I would be fine with Matic as well, he would probably do well in Serie A and in the CL under the right guidance. Then we can have an all-Balkan midfield.

Matic - Pjanic - Pjaca

Kovacic

We havent really been strongly linked to anyone since we signed Higuain. Hopefully rumours speed up this week its getting kind of boring around here.

We need to clear our midfield first before we can bring in players, we are bloated in the middle of the park and the only one close to leaving now is Isla.
This is why I don't want to bring in an average 28-29 year old midfield like we are rumored to

Just stick with Asamoah, Sturaro, and Lemina off the bench; they can offer the same if not more than what we can buy

Isla is done as far as I am aware. Hernanes needs to go too. Once Hernanes leaves, we have 24 senior players on the roster where (as far as I can tell) only 1 senior HG. That means we need to cut 2 more. However, I am not 100% sure if Rugani is counted as HG or not. That may mean we only need to cut 1 more after Hernanes. One person thinks Pjaca can be listed as under 21, but according to transfermkt, he turned 21 in May 6, 2016. I wish there was better info to explain the exact criteria in terms of dates.

I hope Asamoah will be fit for the season, good thing we have a new medic this season so let's see how that turns out. Lemina he got bags of potential and moves, he bossed our midfield when we played Marseille in friendly last season, got impressed with him and took him, still signed him permanently though he was out injured sometime must have caught something in Allegri, but Sturaro i not sure about him. His progress kinda stagnate for now, can see him turn into another Nocerino.

Ideally there is Koke, Verratti, Thiago, Modric. All unattainable.

Below that you might have James, Rakitic, Saul, Gomes. Still probably unattainable.

After that you might go Herrera, Turan, Kovacic, Valero as attainable targets. There is also Isco and Draxler but as pure CMs it's risky. As CAMs it would be worth looking at. Same with Pastore.

Banega would have been interesting. Rabiot, Dahoud are interesting.
Some very interesting, albeit unlikely, names on that list :numnum:

As I have said, the good ones are unattainable. Therefore, I would rather stick to what we have (with the exception of Hernanes) and maybe add a young prospect. No point spending dollars on average players which wouldn't raise the quality much if at all when we already have decent mids.
