Yeah, Sissoko has no end game. Idk why Deschamps didn't have Pogba do what Sissoko was doing in the first half of the euro final.
he could have had both, with a

-------Kante
Sissoko-----Pogba

midfield

or Cabaye instead of Kante. Sissoko was their 2nd best CM this tournament

Sissoko is the definition of a player we shouldn't buy.
actually, we wanted to sign him 3 years ago too before he went to England. as our 5th CM, definitely good enough

Will be way too expensive after the Euros he had, plus he's got huge motivational issues.

never heard about this but i dont follow the EPL that much to know such things...

price is another matter, we will see how much Newcastle will ask. we should definitely not sign him if they want too much

The only thing Sissoko displayed on Euro is how one-dimensional he is, the same applies surprisingly to Matuidi, because of them France has zero link between midfield and attacking group at all.

Sissoko carried the ball forward numerous times in SF and final
Exactly, the only thing he is capable of is to take a ball and hope to just overrun opposing player. He didn't show any glimpse of passing, positional defending, something more sophisticated than kick-&-run dribbling (not is he supposed to though). One-dimensional as it gets, he is not better than Kante, but little guy is at least beast at intercepting, this Sissoko runs, great.

better than Kante
Depends on the purpose... I see no reason why we should get him as we have Lemina who is capable of doing pretty much the same effect...
Kante is a different kind of player who can be used to break a strong team system and providing counters and push forward!
Kante vs minor teams wouldnt be the best choice but against Barcelona Real Madrid Bayern Munich - He could be very useful!
In any case I wouldnt take him to be a regular starter but a rotation kind of player using him for tactical reasons!

Sissoko is the definition of a player we shouldn't buy.
:agree: He is nothing special! and also not a very smart player his passes arent exactly WC his shooting isnt WC and his defending and attacking skills arent WC - To sum it up - He is faster than most players which gives him an advantage but thats it...

Arsenal seem strong on Higuain so maybe Sanchez will be possible?

but thats a very useful ability, especially in CL against top opponents when we sit back.

also, he mad 8 assists last season playing on the right of a 4231 mostly, so his passing/crossing isnt really that bad. very useful 5th CM

edited. Everyone seems to forget we had to pay to keep Lemina which we did
we need to offload Hernanes and Asamoah and get another striker incase Zaza want to leave for Wolfburg
No we don't. Asa will stay and prove everyone wrong. He's THE best Pogba replacement there is.

against top opponents you need something more than just running without any purpose
anyway, 20+ mln for 5th choice CM is too much

you need the ability to carry the ball out to take some pressure off your defense. out of our current CMs, only Pogba can do it

as for the price, we will see how much Newcastle will ask for him (if we are even interested), but we definitely shouldnt overpay for him

there are 3-4 teams in CL who can press us that much – Barca, maybe RM, possibly BM with Anci and MC with Pep. Fielding against them a midfielder not capable to defend properly, make a simple but fast and pinpoint pass and hold a ball a little (just hold it without kicking it forward and running) doesn't look like a very good idea. Against such pressing team you need quick vertical passing, not just running, and Sissoko did not strike me as passer on Euro. Maybe he does it in EPL, but I don't watch that shit.

you need both, cant expect to always free yourself up with passing. and if /when he plays, he would be playing next to Pogba and Pjanic (maybe Marchisio too, if its a 4312) so we would have both qualities present
