I'm aware they don't have the same playing style, but I was under the impression Verratti had the holding midfielder role when the two are playing.
They are flexible and Verratti goes deeper in build at times (and Motta switches places with him) because he has alot of the ball in different phases. But he isnt fixed holding mid, most time times its Verratti RCM Motta DM and Matuidi LCM. Verratti is fairly mobile and tricky so he needs freedom to move up or wherever thats open ala Xavi type of playmaker.

Mobility is Motta's weakness but he is fantastic holding mid so he makes that role his own in their setup. If they sign Kante he will compete with Matuidi or Rabiot for first CM off the bench most likely, not the ageing Motta who functions entirely differently.

I would be pretty wary of signing anyone from Leicester.

They have all been superb this season but will come at a huge cost and there is a big risk that they aren't quite as good once taken out of taht team. Danny Simpson has looked like a world beater this season.

Stay away from their players and focus on what we always do - signing young players and waiting for opportunities

in doing what? running?
Khedira is a better passer and thats it...
Kante is an engine! He reminds me of E.Davids in terms of determination and is a very good marker and tackler!
His attacking game could be better but if you play him right he could be a real asset against a team like Barcelona or Bayern!

LOL no Danny Simpson has not looked like a world beater, yes they are in their career high moment right now mostly, but with the exception of 3 of them its hard fiighting well coached tactical team with plenty of motivated role players putting in the work. No one will be bidding crazy for most of these guys except the few standouts (tho likes of Drinkwater and such will get overvalued on pure high of this journey etc).

Forget Kante, if there for some opportune out of the blue reason there was a window opening to getting Mahrez he would be a brilliant signing no matter what for us and most top teams, no one has dominated EPL as insanely as he has this season outside of Suarez, Henry or Cristiano. He has been that freakishly outstanding. Doesnt matter how many times a sceptic says one season wonder, this kind of constant matchwinning performances screams take me now.

agreed...and how often a year do we play against teams like these? in Serie A teams park the bus against us and Kante would be pretty much useless most of the time, because his running and tackling isn't needed (kinda like Sturaro). imo Khedira's skillset makes him the better player - at least for juventus.

Kante might be great for a team like Atletico.

inb4 Osman ruins me.

Vidal's game wasn't useless in Serie A and he's not the best of passer either.

@DAiDEViL Kante is more Vidal type without the clutch decisive goalscoring then a Sturaro (the above guy who said Davids type is spot on), thats for sure. And we bullied the league for years because of the kind of defensive attitude and dominating presense to winning the ball and being example to rest of the team, and we also had majority of the possession in these games, in large part due to our ability to demolish the spirits and space of the opponents by easily winning possession.

So yeah even if I prefer a more creative playmaking CM (that isnt Khedira) playing next to Marchisio and Pogba, I much rather have this sense of steel and engine back in our midfield. Not necessarily in Vidals level but close enough. Kind of players Kante is, and the missed opportunity Allan is. Hopefully Lemina can be such a player, without the mobility of his imp like countryman and Vidal had.

I'd take Kante over the drunkass injury prone coke snorting chilean indio any day of the week.

Seriously, Kante is the real deal, the guy dispossesses other players like nothing but he's also good going forward. He's pretty good overall imo, his passing pretty decent as well.

About Lemina... well he's following Khedira's steps...

Defensively he is close. Watch both players their high work rate and tackling ability is similar probably. I'm not much for stats but pretty sure someone like @Alen can show the similarities.

well, you seem to be impressed by him - i'm not, and that won't change :p
he is great at what he does, but nowadays i want a complete CM who can tackle, score and pass. he looks way to one-dimensional and limited to me. imo Khedira adds more to our game than Kante would, and from what i've seen i say Lemina can become better than Kante.

but let's see how they both develop. maybe Kante will switch to a big club and prove me wrong. :boh:

the Davids part...well, Davids was simply Davids :D one of the best DM's ever. Kante might be the same type of player, but i somewhat doubt he will ever come even close to his level, so the we-had-Davids-and-were-great-with-him isn't really an argument for me.

let's not turn this into a never ending discussion - whatever you think he has, i just don't see it. i might be wrong, so feel free to bookmark this post and quote me in a year. it's only fair :p
