I don't think Mata fits Allegri's tactics either. He prefers the CAM to be able to press and break attacks. He said that's why he used Vidal there. Then Pereyra who can run and is responsible.

I think we could get Isco for near the same amount of money but he offers a bit more work rate.

Perhaps in your simplistic world :howler:

Player leaves Juventus, he automatically becomes worse, and voila, just because we signed a player he automatically has to be better. A bunch of biased couch experts around here.
in what world are cuadrado and morata better than dani alves and higuain? pjanic has better stats than pogba in the same position at roma

I'd love Isco. the market for DM's is full of mediocre names. I prefer giving Lemina the DCM spot, and focus on a CAM.
Could be Isco, Mata. Pastore, Kovacic, Draxler... better options in general. and wait for an opportunity in january.

After Pogba's sale, the thing to realize here is that before we go ahead and buy any so called replacement, Marotta still needs to sell first in my view. This is because according to my calculations, we need to downsize the squad by 2 senior non home grown players.

Assuming the Pogba sale means we get 105m net (who knows what the official figure is at the end of the day), the impact on the P&L for this year after all KNOWN transactions up to this point is +EU70m (with an assumed 12m in gross wage increases for Bonucci and Dybala). The following year this becomes -30m (including 20m profit from Coman sale) and then -52m the year after.

I can see why we have interest in Gabigol because he has quality but also because he is under 21. So if we wanted to bring in say Gabigol + another midfielder, we need to reduce 3 players. Hernanes and Zaza are two obvious ones. Pereyra looks like the number 3.

Zaza shouldn't go. he's italian, and he proved time and time again we can count on him when it matters.
He could be our future, we can't lose him.

So long as Zaza is willing to accept a bench role, I would be fine with that. The only thing to realize though, is that means we would need to cut 2 mids from the line-up. So imagine we cut Hernanes and Pereyra and had no new mids. We would look pretty slim from a depth perspective. That is the call we need to make because of these new FIGC rules.

Rather than spending a lot of money on average player (Witsel, etc). Wouldn't it be better to just keep Lemina and Pereyra and make Marrone stay and just sell Hernanes and bring in a young player like Diawara? Then replace Zaza with Gabriel B. We will the right quota of players and keep the powder dry if and when an opportunity presents itself.

Squad would be:

GK: Buffon, Neto, Audero - 2 senior non HG, 1 U-21
DEF: Alves, Lichsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Benatia, Rugani, Evra, Sandro - 9 senior non HG
MID: Khedira, Marchisio, Pjanic, Diawara?, Marrone?, Sturaro, Lemina, Pereyra, Asamoah, Mandragora - 8 senior (including 2 HG), 2 U-21
FWD: Dybala, Pjaca, Higuain, Mandzukic, Gabriel B. 4 senior non HG, 1 U-21

Total 23 senior players including 2 HG. 4 U-21

Unless we can get a top midfielder, this is exactly what I would want us to do. It seems like Lemina and Pereyra have been a big part of our pre-season thus far... so hopefully Allegri is signalling his desire to keep them. Pereyra had a rough go with injuries last year, but was developing very nicely before that. And Lemina has fantastic potential.

Exactly, I guess the point is, IS Witsel or Matuidi that much better than Pereyra? (yes i know they are different kind of players). Pereyra knows his team mates, has not really shown us his max due to circumstances etc. Unless we can get someone of the calibre of Vidal (not Vidal himself but someone of that stature), then don't spend big money on mediocre players. Rather spend a bit less and pick up someone like Diawara who can develop into someone really big.

Stats? Don't be like Rus Bro. Pogba can impact the game so much more, and has far more potential. He is a beast in both the defensive and offensive phase of the game. We lose a lot of physicality and athleticism with him, not to mention that X factor. Higuain is definitely better than Morata, but he isn't 60 million Euros better. Morata at 30 million is better than Higgy at 90. Morata, potentially, has the tools to become a more complete forward than Higuain. He isn't there yet, and might never get there, but the potential is there. As for Cuadrado being better than Dani Alves, I never said that. Dani Alves on a free is a dope signing.

No, and No! No physical presence, low work rate, sometimes lazy and inconsistent.
