If we keep our team together, and keep Morata, adding Pjanic and Alves would make us one of the clear CL favourites, alongside Bayern, Barca, Madrid.

We have Alves and Sandro as fullbacks/wingbacks. Not going to improve on that.

We have Pjanic, Marchisio, Pogba, Khedira in midfield. Not going to improve on that.

Dybala, Mandzu, Morata up front. Very difficult to improve on that.

With Sandro, Alves, Pogba, Pjanic, Dybala, Morata...

What more flair does this team need? Or speed for that matter?

Morata is more prolific in the Champion's League than either of these guys. Than anyone we realistically have a shot at getting for that matter.

Morata prolific in the CL? Yeah he wasnt bad I guess but it was also due to luck! His overall finishing ability is lacking and he could be much more deadly! As for CL vs Serie A - I dont believe in good in CL bad in Serie A (and vice versa)...
I believe in overall and when I see that Morata can do better I think well he scored those in the CL but his scoring rate and finishing ability means he`ll probably not be as prolific next time!

Lets say we close the mercato with Pjanic Alves and Morata
Is it enough to win the CL?
I think it could be enough but it certainly wont make us favorites
I still see Barcelona and Bayern as favorites then there is Real and then Juve and Atl Madrid
I can see our chances increase greatly if we get a prolific forward (Cavani Lacazette) are players who will make a huge difference

Jesus could be interesting but he is too young so even if he develop to a monster it would take him time and it wont be on his first season!

We have what it takes to win it. We will never be favorites without players like Ronaldo or Messi but in every other aspect we are up there with the very best on paper. All we need is a little luck.

Which players would improve our midfield? and is that a significant improvement? Even Veratti would not be a guaranteed starter and if he does take marchisio's spot that would only be a slight improvement at best that wont do much in terms of CL chances.

The sort of attacking improvement that you want needs a 4-3-3 and we dont have the players for that formation let alone the bench. Maybe if Pogba is sold we can shift to a wing based formation using his money. But even in that case I cant think of anyone on the market that would be world class wingers.

Bayern are playing Coman and Costa (huge downgrade on Robben and Ribery) because there are no new Robben and Ribery yet. so even with pogba money we'd be stuck with Depay and the likes not Robben quality players.
