He is a lot more limited than Khedira. Khedira's probalem is age and speed now. Can is just too limited.

Natural to sell him, was always an average player.

Limited? I wouldn’t say so. Effective, sure. But Can can play more positions than Khedira. Khedira is certainly a much more effective central midfielder than Can over his career. But at this point in his career Khedira only can play central mid and defensive mid. Can can slot in on the back line.

That's not what Sarri wants from the mezzali imo.

If the strength of a midfielder is that he can slot in the backline, it means he is a bad midfielder. He is too clumsy on the ball. For Sarri he would be a poor version of Kante and a very poor version of Allan.

The one thing I absolutely hate about him is that his first touch is always backwards. He does everything at the same tempo which slows down the play considerably. He then proceeds to play the ball backwards or sideways most of the time.

He will not be missed, it was between him and Bentancur who will miss the cut, I don't mind its him, he is more defensive then Bentancur but way less coordinated and clumsy. Ben10 will prolly look decent with quick passing Sarri style.



Yes there was zero chance Matuidi or Khedira would be cut, so dont even entertain it. They are his current starters, atleast til Rabiot and Ramsey are deemed ready.



But yeah it's kinda embarrassing management when you have to cut what are essentially 2 international level players from your CL list.
