any1 else noticed his reactions in the second half? he was the only guy bar Ronaldo who was demanding the ball, was furious few times at team mates when they didnt pass. Also had feww nice runs from the middle which. For me he is our future in the midfield, could work great with Ramsey.

Not a very bright future.

He has the grinta in him, but he mostly plays very calm.
One rare occasions, when he's angry (mostly due to a bad referee call), you'll see that grinta and he'll try to carry the ball, not just make sideway passes.

Anyways he is improving indeed, but he's obviously not a wc mid and would need to step up more aswell if he wants to be a starter, mostly like everyone else

Ajax allowed him to make some of those runs as they simply didn’t see him as a threat in terms of final ball delivery or an accurate shot from outside the area hence why either of the runs he made resulted in absolutely nothing. While he ws making those runs, they preferred to cover and close the options he had as an outlet (Ronaldo), rather than hound him down to retrieve the ball.

After several months of total failure, he was finally deployed in a great position. We all thought it was a master class find by Allegri with this hybrid position against Atletico. But no, it was a desperate move because of the injury situation back then. When that position was filled with the inept MDS, he was deployed back in the failure position again.

Are we the only ones who see that? Does not Nedved see it and say something for example?

de sciglio started against ajax because of costa's injury, not because allegri rates him higher than cancelo.
What has Douglas Costa to do with MDS?

Allegri might not rate MDS higher than Cancelo but Allegri knows that MDS offers more defensive stability than Cancelo does and that's why he was played ahead of the Portuguese. That was thew whole approach from Allegri anyway, why are we still discussing it when he himself said it in the press conference ahead and after the game? He was aiming to defend the lead we had in Amsterdam. His only problem was that he did not have an alternative to that plan.

allegri needed an impact sub on the bench, and with costa's injury, that had to be cancelo.

cancelo was supposed to start the match and mds was about to be a sub along with costa. it was douglas's injury that changed everything.

Without Costa he needed someone to come off the bench to inject pace when opponent tired or in case the game went to extra time.
But that's exactly why Allegri got it wrong, he already thinking about extra time not trying to kill off Ajax from early minutes

He said he kept Cancelo on the bench so he could make an effective sub, if Costa was available, he'd come in later on and Cancelo would have started the match.

That's just bullshit to cover up for his cowardice approach.

However I would haven indeed prefered Cancelo to start aswell

Anyways, we were fucked because Costa and/or Chiellini couldn't play
Either of those two would have changed the game totally
