We only need him because we, sadly, don't have anyone better at present. Renewing his contract wasn't a smart move in my book. A player like Sami, the current version that is, should be 5th choice at a club like Juventus, not fighting for a starting shirt week in week out.

Don't like what I've seen from him this far. He is big and strong, but it's kind a given. His positioning is meh, he dribbles for no reason at all and loses the ball, his passing is okish. Too early to judge though.
