As, according to latest Beppe interview we won't be signing an attacker, Can should not be the only midfield signing this summer.

It should be him, a RB and one very technically (or vidal esque well round) gifted CM player.

As we aren't paying anything for Can upfront , and probably aren't getting a very good RB, we should absolutely splurge our transfer budget towards the best CM player who is willing to join us. If we manage to sign both Can and a world class CM that would be a great mercato imo. Would really strengthen this team even if Darmian is the RB.

We need at least two CM signings to continue this three man midfield plan imo. Seems we can't rely on Marchisio or Khedira long term anymore. Sturaro is crap

And while i like both Pjanic and Matuidi, there is an issue with their lack of dynamism. Pjanic is technically very gifted but physically he lacks a lot, Matuidi can hustle and fight all day but he worse with a football than Sturaro.

We need a dynamic third man in midfield. Possibly an Drunken Indio :p

Just butthurt we're getting him for free ;)
Not really, I think what you say is funny because our midfielders are all pretty much the same level. Decent. Can has good games, but he also has bad games. He's not as consistent as Gini or Henderson but can be more spectacular than Milner on his day. You can rotate any three of Can, Milner, Henderson, Ox, Gini and get the same production.

The truth is that if the quality of our play really, really depended on Can being in the side... we'd have offered him Coutino money. But it doesn't so for us we're losing one of 5 guys that can do the job on any given day.

That said, he's not a bad player and he may develop into a great player in a more tactical set up like Juve play. But for now, he is what he is.

I base my opinion on the games I saw and I haven't seen all of them obviously. I agree that being Lpool's best midfielder doesn't mean much now but I consider him the best of the bunch. We need a b2b and he's very good in this role. Good runs with the ball, ability to play one two's, threat in the area, puts solid defensive shift and still only 24yo. For free it's an absolute steal in this market as you could easily fetch around 40mln euro for him. Therefore, it's obviously a loss for your club and a coup for Juventus.
