look marotta has added quality to the side, you cannot deny that fact, and thats the bottom line. The fact you truely believed we can financially compete with city showed how much you underestimate the current market. However you look at it, vucinic along with the other signed so far will improve our chances of getting a CL spot more so than if we were to use most of our tight budget on aguero.

Storari/Buffon
Motta-Bonucci-Chiellini-Grosso
Krasic-Melo-Aquilani-Marchisio/Pepe
Matri/Quag-Del Piero/Toni

vs

Buffon
Lichtsteiner-Bonucci/New CB-Chiellini-Ziegler
Krasic-Vidal-Pirlo-New LW/Pasquato
Matri/Quag-Vucinic

We've improved noticeably our squad and this is why I am quite satisfied with our mercato so far.

A quality LW and a CB and we're good enough for 3rd place, if Conte doesn't flop.

I don't think Krasic will perform in a 4-3-3. Marchisio, Vidal and Pirlo would definitely work well together though.

Pepe is no world beater but he is a solid player who works his a*s off. He is a great sub to have (notwithstanding that we may have overpaid for him). Of course, we need someone better than Pepe to be our LW. We should shoot for Bale and Nani as 1st choices (would cost around EU30m and in the budget) - but should we fail....I would take Vargas or Bastos over Elia.

I think Krasic would suit those formations it's just his finishing abilities that can be questionable at times when he's required to support the Prima Punta

I think Krasic works better when he plays deeper with a bit more space around him despite being highly attacking. If he plays so high up the pitch its easier for defenders to mark him without going out of position. That's pretty much what I've seen from him even last season. He played best when he positioned deeper and roamed to the middle of the pitch occasionally which gave him way more space and more options to change direction. Now he plays high along the byline and its resulted in one dimensional play where he runs down the line and tries to beat his marker for pace but the problem is that along the byline you're ten times more predictable and playing so high up makes it hard to find space.

according to Sky Sport, Hamburg want 15 million for Elia which makes it a very difficult transfer to conclude because we aren't prepared to pay that much..
