The fact that we are going for Lugano and Elia means we don't have the funds for Vargas and Alex. That's what happens when you can't sell your players.

The cycle will repeat itself again. We will be stuck with a mediocre player, because we couldn't afford a good one. We will offer him a 5 year deal, and struggle to offload him. We will fail to qualify for the CL, promise "champions" to the fans, and fail to deliver citing lack of funds and CL football.

Repeat!

bianconero81 - marotta DID NOT! I REPEAT DID NOT PROMISE CHAMPIONS! he did however state we would add quality, which thus far in comparison to last season's team is begining to achieve at least

Ignore Badass. There is no point in arguing or discussing anything with him. The man is a ticking time bomb. I think a few members posted quotes attributed to him promising he would target players of the quality of Aguero and the like.

In any case, the squad has been improved, but nothing drastic. I rate the Mercato as a 5 thus far.

he never used the words or anything along the lines of

"I promise to bring champions"

it was his objective to bring champions, but not a promise! however you look at it he has added quality to the roster and that is what matters at this stage.

 ticking time bomb? oh no! everyone better start running! man this place was so much better without your emo rants.

if you can actually find the word of promise then that is different, he stated on several occassions that he would add quality to the side. He never promised aguero, simply that he was looking to buy him, which he was unable to due to other circumstances - namely man city coming into the fold, a factor we could not compete against.
