Fred says that Tremoulinas is great attacking wise but a suspect defensively. As great a fullback is in attack, I won't want him unless he knows how to defend. And as great as he is, is he better in attack than Elia? I doubt it.
If it's true that Tremoulinas isn't good in defense then I'd rather have DC-Elia than Tremoulinas-Lanzafame. Bad defense in both cases, but at least a big attacking threat.
In Bordeaux, Wendel who operates as their left winger when they play a 4-2-3-1, isn't much of a winger, he doesn't have pace, he isn't a particularly good dribbler or anything. Plus he cuts inside all the time, so at Bordeaux Tremoulinas operates on that whole left wing alone, and he does it pretty well. Kind of like Maicon on the right at Inter Milan. He is suspect defensively, which is his biggest drawback. Personally i would have thought him to be the perfect signing if you guys were going to play a 4-3-1-2 or any midfield without out and out wingers, but since you're going to play with a classic 4-4-2 with two wingers in midfield, i'd agree with your post.
Melo always has the tendency to hang onto the ball for a bit longer than he should. Marchisio, I dunno, its hard to assess what his finest qualities are.
Marchisio needs to gain some weight, the guys a shadow.
I saw Elia play for Holland - he is lighting quick and dangerous - not necessarily a superstar but a very useful player to have racing up and down the sidelines
