BTW this guy's track record is just scary. Many world-class players would kill to have such a track record:

Honours

* World champion in 2002 with the Brazilian national team
* Campeonato Paulista (São Paulo State championship) : 1998 and 2000 with São Paulo F.C.
* Copa Conmebol in 1994 with São Paulo F.C.
* Recopa Sudamericana in 1996 with São Paulo F.C.
* Tournament Rio - São Paulo in 2001 with São Paulo F.C.
* French Ligue 1 championship in 2002, 2003 and 2004 with Olympique Lyonnais.
* « Trophée des Champions » in 2002 and 2003 with Olympique Lyonnais.
* Coupe de la Ligue (French League Cup) in 2001 with Olympique Lyonnais
* La Liga (Spanish championship) in 2005 and 2006 with FC Barcelona
* Supercopa de España (Spanish Supercup) in 2005 with FC Barcelona
* UEFA Champions League in 2006 with FC Barcelona

I dunno much about him, but is he the kind of player that's in the right club at the right time or is he a quality player?

Edmílson, full name José Edmílson Gomes de Moraes, (born July 10, 1976 in Taquaritinga, Brazil) is a Brazilian football player of Italian descent. He has played as centre-back/defensive midfielder for São Paulo FC, Olympique Lyonnais and currently, after payed a transfer fee of €10 million[1], FC Barcelona with a contract to end in June 2007.[2]

He won the São Paulo State, French and Spanish championships with São Paulo F.C., Olympique Lyonnais and FC Barcelona. Since moving to Europe, he has won a domestic championship in each of his first 6 seasons (4 with Lyon, 2 with Barcelona).

While playing with FC Barcelona he suffered two serious injuries, but was able to fully recover and played an important role in the teams success on the domestic and European scenes in the 2005-2006 season. He has an Italian passport which allows him to play in the EU as an European player.

He has won 36 caps with the Brazilian national team, the first one on July 18, 2000, and won the Football World Cup 2002. He was forced to withdraw from the Brazil squad for the 2006 World Cup after sustaining a knee injury in training before the tournament.

If he's for free then why not. Could be used as a utility player

Edmilson Agrees Newcastle Move, Gudjohnsen Deal Close

Reports that Sam Allardyce has travelled to Barcelona this morning have now been confirmed, and the Newcastle manager is currently speaking with the Barca management about the two players.

Edmilson's move has already been sanctioned by the Catalans it seems, and the two parties will meet again after lunch to discuss Eidur Gudjohnsen, over whom there is still a £2m difference between the two sides.

The Brazilian midfielder's move will, however, take place only after a detailed medical check-up, as he has been ruled out until November following a knee surgery.

As for the Iceland international, Newcastle are currently offering £6 million, while Barcelona want something closer to the 8 that they paid Chelsea last summer. A £7m compromise formula could be agreed upon.

Goal.com will keep you updated with the details as they become available...

_|_ Emerson!!!

We have enough MF with Almi Tiago Camo Neddy Marchonni Marchisio ( )Nocerino Zanetti Giannichedda
i think you'll find either Marchionni or Camoranesi will not be there...most likely Camo will leave...hopefully we get someone decent in return. and you forgot Salihamidzic in that list.

Nedved is still a question mark and im sure Giannichedda was leaving...whats the go with Tacchinardi?

A 30 year old player with a 4-month injury. I don't think it's so tempting even if he is the best footballer in the world.
