I dont think this deal will happen but if it did we would have a pretty unreal group of forwards. Transfer fee would be very high and I dont know if it is smart to spend so much but if we got him we would have the guarantee an elite center forward brings. We could be a perennial CL final team.

the tears here on Sept 1 shall be numerous....

p.s: won't mind if we did get him tho...
No tears will be shed if we don't get him. We have an amazing group of forwards already.

Those completely dismissing the possibility are being pretty silly. There is a good chance we go for (and get) Cavani even without selling Pogba. Of course the opposite is also true...

But we have a good 20-30 mil in players to sell this summer, and we clearly have the finances to spend 100 mil... As I showed, we spent 100 mil with only 23 mil in sales in 2011. And we spent like 75 mil in 2012 with similar sales. It was only 2013 and 2014 that we spent little. With the massive increase in revenue this year with a CL final, new sponsorship deals, and all that jazz, we could easily have a summer similar to 2011, albeit spending the 100 mil on a smaller group of players.

People discrediting the possibility that we spend 100 mil are crazy.

Not saying we can't get Cavani, but the money spent in 2011-12 summer window came from 120m capital investment from Exxor. It wasn't just 80m loss out of nowhere.

But on the flip side we are making much larger revenues now with a much more solid future with the expectation of further deep CL runs.

I agree with you. Our revenue has spiked since then so we probably do have the ability to spend quite a bit more than the last couple summers, whether that means 60-80 mil, or 100 mil is a different story, and I really don't know enough about our financials and the like. Didn't we just receive a 50 mil loan from Exor?

I'm more of the opinion that we'll spend big if a good opportunity presents itself. Something like Cavani being available for 40 mil instead of 50 mil, or Darmian for 15-20 mil instead of 25+. Dybala's youth and massive potential probably was the reason for our fairly large spend on him, even if he isn't very proven.

I guess what I'm saying is that I could see us spending only 50-60 mil if the market doesn't present the right opportunities this year, or 80-100 mil if the market doesn't present the right opportunities. Especially considering it is our first full summer with Allegri, and his ideas and requirements for improving this team will be taken into consideration.

This deal only makes sense, if one of Tevez, Morata have already confirmed to the management (or in Morata's case, REAL have let us know) they're leaving this summer for sure.
I'd hate to see them leave but then again we'd get Cavani, so no biggie I guess.

and yet it gets posted like 30 times a day... i don´t even get the logic behind it.

the sick thing is, it seems like we are pushing for the kind of mercato i was hoping for, if we were going to sell pogba for some reason... just without selling pogba ^^.

We gotta get an AMC if we wanna keep the 4312 going. And he's the only one we've been linked to.
And he's pretty good, and I think he'd fit Allegri's demands for am AM
He's fucking overrated, Cavani is infinitely better.

Does look like it. So with our huge CL revenue + 50m loan I don't see why anyone would say we would have to sell Pogba to finance Cavani.

If we manage to offload a few players like Llorente, Ogbonna, Isla, De Ceglie & youth we could end up with 30-40m+ in sales too.
