There was a penalty for Wolfsburg and Dzeko immediately took the ball, Diego was waiting at the penalty spot to take the ball und the penalty, but Dzeko told him to go away because he wanted to shoot.. So they had a little discussion and Diego went away. Dzeko fired the penalty over the bar... Later Dzeko was substituted by Coach McClaren and he was furious (I don't know why exactly).. As he went off the field he ran past the substitute and past McClaren without a word or without shaking the hands... And then he also ran past team manager Hoeness and shouting something at him... After that Hoeness shook his head!

Thats all I know;)
if only hoeness was alike garrone ...

At the end of the last season there was an interview with Dzeko (the link was posted here. He was seating in the stands of a stadium, in Sarajevo I think, and talking about the finished season and his future). He said something like this..."We finished...I don't even know where did we finish, 7th, 8th, 9th. I want to win and play for a team that wants to win, 7th place is not acceptable for me". Then he wanted to move and he was promised that he'll be sold in the summer, but Wolfsburg refused to sell him. On the other hand, they did let his best friend Misimovic go, replacing him with Diego, who thinks that he is the boss in Wolfsburg.

I'd too be mad in Dzeko's place. A team that's fighting against relegation refusing to sell me, wasting my best years in such club.

I don't know if he's poor, but when things aren't going well, it happens a lot players to become nervous and do something stupid.
In Juve we had a Camoranesi who was beating the opponents when things didn't go well, Nedved was insulting referees, pulling the hair of Comotto, getting red carded, Del Piero was throwing his jacket etc.
Things like that happen all the time, everywhere. Wolfsburg are having a very bad season, Dzeko just missed a penalty...he was replaced and it was enough for him to lose it for a moment. It's not like he's a known troublemaker.

Thanks.

I thought he signed on for a big wage right before the summer, where they set the buyout at €40m?

Wolfsburg are a pretty financially secure team IIRC, I'm sure he knew this.
He signed his contract in summer 2009 and apparently, when he signed that contract, Wolfsburg promised to sell him to a bigger club in summer 2010.
He was sure that Wolfsburg will let him go, but he didn't count on the team overpricing him.

I think he would have had to agree with Wolfsburg on the figure of the buyout clause?

He did. Players don't really understand their financial worth. Or the worth of their contracts. Which is why I have a hard time sympathizing with guys who sign big contracts and then decide they no longer want to be at a club. At least he hasn't pulled a Mascherano and demanded to be sold for half his value.

I don't know what happened exactly. That Irfan guy (Dzeko's agent) kept saying how Wolfsburg don't respect the promise they gave to Dzeko.
And if the buy-out clause was set at 40m eur, while Wolfsburg promised to sell him to a bigger club in the summer, then I guess it was logical to expect that they will let him go for 30 or 35m, because with a 40m eur buy-out clause Wolfsburg don't need to promise to sell him for that amount. They won't even be asked if there is such a buy out clause.

In the end it's Dzeko's fault. Wolfsburg aren't doing anything illegal and the signed papers are supporting their side. It's just that Dzeko probably feels betrayed that his club didn't respect the gentleman's agreement they had.

It seems to me you would want a player that can thrive in the worst of times. Not specifically about Dzeko, but in general. I've never liked it when player use poor form as an excuse for doing stupid things or "losing it". If you're on a run of poor form the logical antidote is to play harder. At least for me.
