Juventus Focus On Nice's Ederson

The Bianconeri continue their search for more quality players ahead of the summer transfer window, the key objective being to strengthen the squad for next season, when they will most likely be back in Europe.

The latest player to be linked with the Old Lady is Ederson, who currently plays in France with Nice.
The 21-year-old caught the attention of the Juventus scouts during his side's 1-0 win against Strasbourg, in which he scored the winner.

The Bianconeri scouts were originally there to follow defender Habib Bellaid, but instead went back to Turin with the name of Ederson on their shortlist.

Ederson joins a long list of attacking midfielders who are currently linked to Juventus, with the most notable ones being Rafael Van der Vaart and Diego.

With the club having declared that there will be no new transfers this month, as confirmed by president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, the Bianconeri fans will be hoping that some major purchases are made in summer in order to compete for the Scudetto and Champions League next year.

I know you shouldn't base your opinion on a player solely on a youtube video but I can't help to be impressed with what I just saw. Great dribbling ability, powerful shot, good freekicks and penalty kicks, good vision, fast and creative. Perfect number 10. Just what we need.

I'd like someone with more insight on the French league to bring a better update though. What do you say there, fred_weasley? ;)

Just Noticed this thread:oops:

To be honest i havent seen much of Nice this season..3 matches only to be exact..(i blame the lack of coverage this season, i usually get better)

IMO Ederson is a talented player, no doubt about that..He impressed a lot in the game against Lyon(ended 0-0) gave Lyon a horrid time..and was so unlucky not to score in that game..He was impressive against Marseille too this season.

He's a creative player, good dribbler and has a wicked shot..though i have my doubts on whether he can make it in a team like Juve..to me he seems like a player who needs the team to be built around him, his decision making leaves a lot to be desired too..he holds onto the ball too much sometimes.

I think he's a good player..but he'll end up in a team like Udinese, Palermo, Zaragoza etc.

a 22 year old defender which is better than mellberg... i will receive him with open arms
Even though we have defensive problems at the moment, I don't think Ederson can solve that...:p
I like his creativity, dribbling and style, he plays well in the bigger matches and as Fred said might not settle at a big club.

Dont think he would be expensive at all, so he maybe not as starter (unless he shines big suddenly), but he would be a very good squad player (or starter if signd now in January). One of the better midfielders in the french league, Lazio and Lyon (to replace Juninho) were after him in the summer.

i thought the youtube video really glorifies him. he has great technique and flair but statistics tell a different story; not too many goals or assists. he definately has potential; juve can use that statistics to get ederson cheaply and without any prying eyes. ederson is worth a shot.

i try and watch French football when i can because a lot of my family is from Lyon, so i like to see how they are playing.

like Fred said Nice don't usually get much coverage, so i have only seen highlights of some of his games.

IMO he is a good player but thats all. he would not be a Van der Vaart or Diego by any means but a decent player to have nonetheless. As long as he is a squad player he is an upgrade on Olivera and would give us something different. But he is not worth shelling out a huge chunk of our transfer budget on.

(although i am making this assumption on a few highlights of nice matches)
