Strong earthquake hits Martinique

A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 magnitude has hit near the island of Martinique in the eastern Caribbean, the US Geological Survey has said.

The earthquake struck at 1500 (1900 GMT) off the north-west coast of Martinique at a depth of 145.4 kilometers (90.4 miles)

There have been unconfirmed reports that some buildings have collapsed in Martinique's capital, Fort de France.

No casualties have been reported and no major tsunami warning has been given.

    Shit, we get earthquakes all the time here. Plus we just had to deal with some fucked up wildfires.


    BTW: Glad you're safe, if you feel any aftershocks go and brace yourself under a doorframe and away from things that might fall (chandeliers, drawers, cabinets)

    no damages at all this the first earthquake in 60 years in the Barbados and also the only one that shook the whole Caribbean

    that kinda experience would be frightening. i've never been in a catastrophic disaster of any sort but i would imagine the shit one goes thru would be rather overwhelming.

    it seems very quiet up here believe it or not but your independence day is top tomorrow :( we are shaken up tomorrow is a bank holiday.

    i guess you felt it a lot worse than we did here in trinidad. when it was going on, i was in work, and all the women were screaming which was extremely funny, but then one of them pushed me out of the way to take my spot under the door frame. no damage was doen here, but it lasted for a long time.
