If Comolli terminates his contract, I'd rather we terminate Comolli's instead

Regardless of whether he's in terrible form, would be lunacy to terminate the contract of a 25 year old player who has still managed to score 17 goals this season

This is not like a Sancho situation. He has been terrible but this is not a contract termination situation
For sure. We paid 70mil for the fucker and he wants to go out for free to claim bigger signing fee, agent fee and salary. The audacity :disagree:
This is WC season. Let him play 0minutes this year, let him take his chances of not getting called up for the NT.

I still think he's going to wait out and find a suitable destination before the transfer window closes. There's a habit of media sources to make the player look really bad in situations like this.

He's just leveraging his contract situation atm but I still believe there's going to be some sort of compromise from both parties. As time passes by, he'll pick some shit team eventually. I read Inzaghi called Vlahovic but not sure how reliable the reports are.

But if we panic and terminate his contract just to get rid of him, this club is doomed for years. That alone is a vote of no confidence in the new management.

I feel like this situation seems to happen to us more than other clubs. Overpaying rival clubs for players that don't live up to expectations is not a sustainable business model. When we bought Nedved, Thuram, and Buffon with the Zizou money, all of them had 100+ appearances with Lazio and Parma, which is multiple seasons of putting up solid numbers. This is much different than flash in the pan Koopmeiners, Vlahovic, Bernardeskis, and the rest of the trash we bought in recent memory.
It doesn't happen to us more frequently, it's just you following Juve more closely.

100%

That’s also why Jj is the Yanited of Italy since they are continually overpaying for trash players

i think he already knows. that's why he won't give up on money that he's owed. he holds the cards: he's got a huge wage bill and an expiring contract. january is 6 months away, then he can talk to anyone freely. and he's clearly overpaid. we had similar issues with khedira, higuain, allegri, chiesa, tek, rugani, sandro, and probably a few others too. the club needs to have more foresight when signing deals, that's the moral of the story

when we signed vlahovic, he had very similar stats to scamacca. he wasn't a world beater to begin with, he was a prospect. and you shouldn't promise to pay star wages to prospects. it's a lesson to not forget

:boh:
Pls dont stick Sami with these other clowns. Man was an epitome of professionalism and did a much better job than he is given credit for.

Economic effect:

Item

Amount
Remaining amortization (years 4 + 5)

€28 million
Effect of termination

€28 million loss (immediate)

This worsens your financial results for that year and could also affect your Financial Fair Play (FFP) compliance.

So 28m less to spend this transfer window then

It would just be better to retain him and let him see out his contract. If he still elects to leave for free next summer then so be it. But save as much $$ to spend in other needed departments. The payments are only to accelerate time.

Ain't no way we just terminate him and PAY him to do it.

I guess we're saving some on his wages as long as its less than his wages but the amortization of his transfer fee is there no matter what. If the savings on him with termination is 5m, wouldn't selling him for 10m and paying 50% of his wages be more positive on our statements? So why not do that? It sucks but its much better than just letting him walk and taking all that amortization and his buyout on the chin like a fucking sucker punch.

It saves money to get rid of him. We would make a capital loss on him but we would incur the same cost in amortisation anyway. We would save on his wages for a year, assuming that his pay-off is less than his wages.

But we would need to sign another striker and pay their wages instead.

Plus he'll likely stay in Italy and we'll strengthen a direct rival for the top 4. If we miss out we lose far more.

I'd keep him. We've put ourselves in a terrible position, keep him as a backup. We need 3 strikers anyway and Milik can't be relied on. I'd rather than than strengthen Milan, Inter, Roma or Napoli without them paying anything.

Plus there is the reputation impact. Players will know we are a soft touch and do the same.

Not sure if serious.

Termination doesn’t make sense economically. If we just pay his wages is 12 x 2 24 million vs - 28 m would be the effect of termination
