26 is the new 34 :touched:
He'll be 27 in December. We buy him in July-August, season starts in September.

We need to invest in an up and coming talent, not in a proven player who will be expensive as hell with little resale value in a couple of years. Let's not repeat the Higuain deal.

Higuain was at least very useful for 2-3 seasons and was the best pure striker we had since Trezegol.
Dušan is Vučinić at best.

that's ~9 months from now

so he was 26 for like a day or two ~3 months ago, am i getting it right?
Yes, but we would get him 4-5 months from now. So he would be closer to 27 than to 26. And that's pretty old for the main transfer of the season, especially since he's a striker and they tend to fade away faster than Midfielders/defenders/goalkeepers.

Why can't we sign players like Real Madrid? In their early twenties or teenagers?

The last time Real Madrid's marquee signing was over 26 was when they bought Hazard and we all know how that played out.

Drogba comes to mind
That was 20 years ago and we're not in Chelsea's position to throw all our money on a 26 year old striker and hope he clicks. They did like 10 major transfers that season. And if Drogba wouldn't have clicked they would have just thrown another 30-40 mil at the next big thing next season. We don't have that luxury.

Besides one very good season in 2022/2023 Osimhen didn't knock it out of the park at Napoli. The rest of his seasons are comparable to Vlahovic's seasons with us.
How do we know that that season wasn't a fluke and he only looked good because he had a system around him that put him in good light?

Don't tell me he's scoring 20+ goals in the Turkish league because that doesn't count. Even a mummy like Dzeko looks good in that league.

Has our superstar's mood been uplifted by Motta's departure?
I give it 2 or 3 games and he'll be bitching again.

Man Vucinic had technique though.

His hold up play was much better than usual and I think that the ref was harsh on him a few times he was held back on long balls

But his movement is still poor. He rarely makes the run to get in front of his defender at the near post on low crosses.
