Have we overpaid? Who knows, time will tell… 70-80m for a striker isn’t a lot in the modern day and age. Haaland without his clause would go for 100m+ as would mbappe. If Vlahovic explodes he’s a bargain. We can easily recoup that investment even if he just gets 15-20 goals a season.

We paid 90 million euros for 29 year old higuain and 100 million euros for 33 year old Ronaldo. So 90 million euros for 22 year old vlahovic who is second youngest among top five goalscorer in Europe in last two seasons is certainly not overpaying.

True but I do sometimes worry when we buying for small clubs. Sometimes players thrive in smaller teams than bigger ones. We're not exactly the most attacking team and I worry if we have the midfield for someone of this calibre.

Every deal has risks and you can never be 100% sure, but the odds for this move to be a success is too good to be stingy and starting having second thoughts already.

I think people need to realize that Vlahovic is just a single shot. It doesn't mean we're back to galactiocs spending, we just took a player that was our #1 target in a period where we badly needed him. No CL is a loss of 30-50m easily and that would force us to further downsizing, perhaps one that we wouldn't want to see.

I think the club will be focusing on more affordable deals from now on. Forwards are the most expensive ones anyway and we tooka top one in Januray, it had to be a costly operation.

With that being said, I'm myself unsure about it because no one can predict the future.

Not to mention that buying a player of this caliber in January, in the middle of the season, also comes at a higher cost.

All in all, I think it's a fair price.
