that said, this is our only big chance we had. and that's not on vlahovic only

The problem isn't his missed chance , it's his "where the balls go to die" play.

Watched again of his goals in Fiorentina even for us against Villareal (Champions League) when he first joined. He can score anywhere even from tight angle.
But in the last 2 matches, His opportunity against Empoli and and wasted chances against Roma made us wonder which one is the real Vlahovic.

He should accept to reduce his wage if it such a burden for him to be paid that high but not producing as expected. Enjoy the game again and scoring lots of goals

idk, I didn’t watch him as much with Fiorentina. There’s this narrative that he had more chances but the numbers don’t really back that up. He averaged 1.31 shots on target per 90 his last season at Fiorentina. But last season he actually averaged more than that. His average so far this season is identical to his 2020 season when he scored a career best 21 goals. The shot distance metrics are also comparable to his time at Fiorentina.

Sure he could get always get more service, but he’s also been more wasteful. I still think he’s just pressing. He looks stressed out every time he plays.

Pretty much this sums it up. Lots of media attention on Vlahovic after that Empoli game.

How will he respond?

If his confidence is rocked then we need to be looking for a new striker ASAP. In the meantime where are the farkin' goals coming from in this squad? We need the midfield and wings to start contributing on the scoresheet.
