He was a crucial player at Aston villa and played an impressive role there.
Switching from A league that is purely offensive, where even the mid-level teams don't tend to present defensive football to one of the most defensive league was a big step backwards for him. He is certainly not a top-class player, not enough to being a key player in top level EPL teams, even as sub but can be in line up in bottom teams.
