But this guy can’t be our first line of gegenpressing…. He is absolutely careless and joggs around. If there is a chance to get rid of him, do it! Some PL teams should still value him

At first i also thought he probably not suited with our aggressive pressing but Luiz was one player that covered most distance in Aston Villa first half of last season (23/24).

It probably because he has injury problem now.

Seems like we are about to give him another chance to see if he can step it up here before we decide whether to loan/sell him this January.

Can't tell you how pleased I'd be if he turns all this around and starts killing it out there
I’d be glad to see him eventually live up to expectations here, but unfortunately he currently isn’t a good fit for the formation and tactics that we are deploying while the coach clearly is not willing to make any concessions to fit him in, nor does it look like the trust is there.

Still hoping he steps it up though.

Ah, ok, didn't know that. Thought they bought him from Brazil as a senior player.
bought him when he was 19 yo and loaned him out to Girona for 2 seasons. After 2 years there they sold him to Villa for 17m, so yes they probably thought he was not ready to play for them.
Pedro Porro is similiar example he was owned by City and was send on many loans then sold for good price.
Also Brahim Diaz, but he was playing for young teams at City, the other guys didnt.
