After listening all the present Juve players will be the turn of ex players to go to court: soon also Zidane will be called

wait a sec. If we pay bail, sensi and incubo will call it a conspiracy because the bail was set so low.

If they do stay in jail, without bail, then sensi and incubo will complain that its a conspiracy because the length was so short.

Ooh this is a difficult one to call...

Zidane called to testify at Juventus doping trial
First Published: Dec 08, 2003

Real Madrid's French star Zinedine Zidane has been summonsed to testify at a doping trial of his former Italian club Juventus, it was reported.

Turin assistant prosecutor Raffaele Guariniello told Le Monde newspaper Zidane, Filippo Inzaghi, Roberto Baggio and Angelo Peruzzi had been called to testify at the December 19 hearing.

Zidane, former France captain Didier Deschamps and Italian star Alessandro Del Piero are all under suspicion of being given illegal substances by club doctors between July 1994 and September 1998, the most successful period in the Italian team's history.

Over that period, Juventus won three Italian league titles and the European Cup.

Zidane played for Juventus from 1996 to 2001.

Former Juventus striker Gianluca Vialli has already admitted the club doctor regularly administered substances for which there was no justification.

Juventus director Antonio Giraudo and club doctor Riccardo Agricola stand accused of breaching Italy's sporting fraud laws. The players are not facing any charges.

"When I started investigating the Calcio (the Italian league) I was told nobody used doping because drugs were no use for a team sport," Guariniello said.

"Our investigations led to a Rome laboratory being closed by the Italian Olympic Committee because it did not carry out tests for anabolic steroids.

"Since it was reopened they have detected 13 case of players using nandrolone."

Here it is a video of a rai special about the doping problem.

http://www.report.rai.it/ram/vid20030930.ram

It's very long, not all about soccer and Juve and is in Italian but it is very interesting, I think that for the first time I really understood something cause it is very well done.
The court interrogations of Juve players are in the middle but there is a schort cut of them just as an introductions to the program so is possible to see them without waiting. The 5 of them, look all confused IMO.

What I undestood is that some players (Del Piero, Tacchinardi, Conte, Birindelli and Pessotto) have been found with not normal blood value and they admitted they took some medicines, pills and flebo in year 1998 and if by one side those things weare not banned by the other they have been used in an illigal way and this is why Giraudo and Agricola have been accused... it is correct?

Btw do medias dedicate so mutch space to this question also outside Italy or not?

I doubt the players will be prosecuted. It will be Juve's fault, if this all true. IF! But players like Zidane, Baggio, Peruzzi, Del Piero and Inzaghi are world stars and most probably the players wont get effected.

No players can be banned IMO cause the fact happened in 1998 so will be no sense to ban them nealy 6 years later...

Anycase the players who have been accused are just five (Del Piero, Tacchinardi, Conte, Birindelli and Pessotto) + Giraudo and Agricola all the rest went or will go just as a "teste" cause being or having been in Juve they may know something.

The point is that the blood values of those 5 guys was totaly upset but as they didn't came out positive to any control they could not be banned 4 doping so the reserch began and at the end they admitted they took in 1998 some piils and endovena who are actually not in the "doping list" but they are 4 some some kind of sickness like tachicardia, ecc... so to use that 4 increase sport prestation is wrong and dangerous, and this is illegal too. Del Piero, Tacchinardi, Conte, Birindelli and Pessotto have been assolved cause thay may didn't realize this but Agricola has no excuse cause he is a doctor, so he had to know. I didn't understandabout well what about Giraudo... I think he is in a bad position cause he was the one who made those medicines arrive from the farmacy.

Sally I'm sorry you cannot understand italian, cause if you will look at the video I posted you will be happy about this and not upset. Cause you will see interview about ex sportman who are now so sick 4 taking some medicines that they didn't know what it was...
But of course the controls have to be the same 4 all the teams and possibly 4 all the countrys...

It sounds suspiciously like looking for scape goat/s to save the name of football as its done in athletics and other sports

No athlete ever seems to know that he is taking performance enhancing drugs even if his/her body starts to get bigger and performance or stamina starts to become better

Pity noone blames the chemist when they take viagra

You are right Denco but there are things like 4 example creatine who increase your body mass and are not dangerous 4 healt others who are very dangerous or illegal and maybe some young ingnorant (nothing wrong but remember that nearly all the players didn't even go to school) cannot take the difference.

Anycase yes... there are so many money involved in soccer so probably the truth will be hided and we will never know how thing really are; but lately in Italy everybody is talking about the problem and so many research is on that something is going out. Think that even ouer best cyclyst, Pantani, was banned 4 doping... so this is a signal that they are not so worry of doing scandals to resolve this thing.

Anycase smart players like Ferrara get the danger.
Infact when called as a teste (he was not accused) in court he said: "oh yes in 1998 there weare too many medicines around, I hated that, this is not sport; and that's why I do not blame Zeman but I thank him, cause since he spoke all that stopped".
The pity is that he was the only one... all the rest denyed ot at list they tried to, till they weare costrict to admit... as you can see in the video and are also vey upset with Zeman who is the one who for first said that he suspected something in Juve.

Nevermind the sentence...Should a team keep their wins while they were handing out and supplying illegal substances? Olympic medalists get their medals stripped.. why shouldn't teams as well? Also if it is discovered that players like Vialli, Ravanelli, Tacchinardi, Del Piero and Inzaghi (to be fair) used illegal substances...shouldn't they be suspended regardless of how much time passed. If they are still playing they should 'do the time' so to speak.

The substance was not illegal, was used in an illegal way.
There are no rules about it in "sport justice" and infact is ordinary justice who is taking care of it.

Btw the year 4 who they are accused is just 1998. So isn't fair to speak like it have been always and still right now cause it cannot be proved.

Anycase the doping problem is bigger than beeing fans of this or that team and all the fans who like sport want it to be clear.

4 example Italy will be the first country who will do both blood and urine control togeder beginning from january, I think will be fair if also other countrys start to search doping carefully like us. Many players who have been booked with nabndrolone arrived from other leagues, so I suspect that in other countryes controls are even worst than here....

And in any case, why don't you check what goes in the Milanlab before throwing dirt on other teams

Creatine was used by all teams. It was even advertised on the monthly magazine of referees/lega calcio.

What's most pathetic about this story, is that it all started with Zeman's insinuation about Juve. Guarinello took the opportunity and started investigating Juve. Since then many players from OTHER teams have been caught positive, yet their teams have NOT been investigated. Why?

Whatever Juve were using, was being used by other clubs. You really think that only Juve have 'wise' doctors that know how to go round that doping rule?

Last time I checked the court docket there were no criminal charges being laid against employees of AC Milan, spa or Milanlab for that case. So until I see hard evidence (i.e. a criminal prosecution) I see it pointless doing the 'he took, they take'.

" What's most pathetic about this story, is that it all started with Zeman's insinuation about Juve"

I can assure you that criminal investigations and the decisions of Crown Magistrates need more evidence than a former coach's statement. Lets be realistic.

If Giraudo and Agircola are guilty does Juve deserve to keep the championships they won all on the stamina and aggresiveness of Vialli and Ravanelli??
That's a bridge that will have to be crossed when and if we come to it. IMO, it would unrealistic to think that the championships will be revoked, though it is certainly possible. I wouldn't care, really, that was before my time.
