Sorry, but I gotta play devil's advocate and defend Moggi a little on this one.

If a great player who is nearing the end of his peak career asks for a boatload of money to renew his contract -- and your team is facing its worst financial situation in seven years -- you have to seriously consider letting him go.

Unless you wrote Moggi a personal check to cover Davids contract demands, you don't have a lot of grounds for legitimate complaints. :mute:

I sure as hell would prefer to give up Davids rather than have to sell off players like DP, Buffon, etc., in order to cover the costs.
damn rite! :thumb:

Davids and Gattuso are two different type of players and comparing them is pointless.
Davids is much more naturally talented and has more creativity and can support the attack better than Rino any day. Rino plays in the "trenches" of midfield and breaks down the opposition from moving and opens space for players....the only similarity is their hunger on the field to which I give it to Rino only because of Davids and his charges.
To say Rino had one good season means you have not seen him play...

Let me start by saying that Moggi is not my fave person, in fact I do not care for him at all

But on the other hand, Davids is no saint either, here you are at a club who gave you a chance to resurrect your career when it was at its lowest point when he was at Milan, he became a superstar again with Juve, his profile was raised and probably got investments and endorsement deals

They stood by him during his drug ban, his woman beating allegations and countless times when he has let the team down by getting sent off on crucial occasions

Have you forgotten , his very first match back against Celtic following lobbying and all that we did to get his ban reduced (check our Rio Ferdinand who is going to miss Euro 2004 for missing a drugs test not failing, missing), he got sent off, he got sent off against Depor after coming on as a sub when we were 2-0 down, he got sent off against Hamburg when we lost 3-1 at home and aslo against Barcelona (ironic he?) but we hung on to win

But they still tolerated his excesses

Now to the money issue, Agassi once said that he would not want to be in the same room as anyone who thinks that $1m was not enuff, when Kafelnikov was quoted as saying he is never satisfied witht he money he is making thats why he palys in so many tournaments

Like Makelele, I have no time for anyone who makes in a week what most ppl make in a year and still moan that its not enuff

Michael Jordan the finest basketballer ever and imo the best ever sportsman or one of them did not inhis prime have a higher salary than most of his contemporaries, he made most of his money thru endorsements but he did not moan that he is not getting as much as so and so even if he was contributing more

Are we saying Davids does not make money outside his salary? Of cos he does

I admire Davids as a footballer but like I said I have no time for greed

Don't know what went behing the scenes but if it was purely for monetary reasons then sorry Edgar, i cannot support your case
