Lou is earning his "get out of ban free" card here. 
But seriously... good threads should never be closed prematurely -- unless they're taking the forums down the slip-and-slide to hell. Bad threads -- i.e., those that are duplicates or have no real point nor purpose -- need to be pruned, as they just clutter things up for other users.
It's a delicate balance, for sure.

Seriuosy, I try to be as helpful and as fair as possible, but sometimes it's impossible for everyone to be happy with my actions. I try only to close those threads that I have to, and I dont think I kill the fun. I dont mind off topic talk, and I dont make a habit of closing threads that have gone off topic, only those that are either duplicate or uneccessary.
