As Juventus and Parma gear up for their opening-day Serie A showdown, the news from the visitors' camp is that former Bianconeri striker Amauri has been ruled out of the fixture, after failing to shake off an injury. Parma manager Roberto Donadani explained the Brazilian's absence in his pre-match press conference today: "He needs a few more days recover fully so he won't be able to play a part in the game, not this week."
Parma could hardly have been handed a more difficult start to the new campaign, a fact Dondani knows only too well. Yet he hopes the size of the task will give his players an added incentive: "We've reshaped our squad over the summer so we're going to have to be a bit patient and help these lads. We'll have to work as a team out there. If we don't do that, Juve are going to be even more of a handful for us. We know it won't be a level playing field – not with all the quality Juve have at their disposal. But certain games provide the perfect stage for you to excel on."
