He occupies the same attacking position as Dybala (who people already cry about not playing enough) and Cuadrado, in his best position, and at least how Allegri is setting the team up. Dybala also naturally comes inside from the right to left being so heavily one footed. That's why when people mention bringing Berardi in it suggests Cuadrado not signing permanently.
You could throw a front line like Dybala - Morata - Berardi together or flip it around but really it limits whoever is playing on the left, which is why you see Allegri put Morata out there instead to come inside, which is also not ideal as he is not a winger.
