I remember Giovinco was just as exciting a prospect once :)
That is true. However, Berardi is miles ahead of what Giovinco was at the same age. At 19, he's the best scorer of his team in Serie A, was Sassulo's best player in Serie B at 18, and has played in 45 professional games. At 19, Giovinco was still playing for the primavera.

Also, unlike Giovinco, Berardi is not handicapped by his frame, he's 6 ft 1. He's also not a bad finisher.

Berardi’s first goal for Juventus
By Football Italia staff

Domenico Berardi is delighted with what his goal at Roma meant for Sassuolo and Juventus – the club who co-own him.

The 19-year-old netted a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico which allowed the Old Lady, who then beat Napoli, to move just one point behind the capital League leaders.

“I’m happy with the strike, that is obvious, but I’m especially delighted with how we played as a team,” the wide attacker noted.

“We believed right up until the end and we got a good result. We created a lot of opportunities and we were rewarded for our efforts.

“We try to give everyone a game, no matter who they are, as that is the only way we can survive.

“A goal for Juventus? Yes, I know I’ve done them a favour. That’s also pleasing.”

The Turin giants signed 50 per cent of the player on transfer deadline day for €4.5m. He has scored six goals in eight League games so far this term.

Sassuolo, who also drew 1-1 at Napoli earlier this season, are one point above the relegation zone after 12 matches.

Comparsions to Giovinco already :disagree:

He's not a little pony so he should be fine as it's the main downside of Giovinco.

Berardi at 18 carries Sassuolo to Serie A and now he carries them in Serie A at 19. That's impressive. I didn't see him that much but he seems like a composed player who just needs more playing time and experience. It's up to him if he rises his level but so far he's doing great. Scoring from PKs or not - it's important for such a young forward/winger to score. It will only motivate him to work harder. At the end of the day the more players you have that can take PKs the better. He's decent at FKs too.

I don't get my hopes too much up as there were many like him before but Juve definitely needs more young players like Pogba in the team. Juve is not able to spend big so they need to look for such players. I keep fingers crossed for him, Marrone, Leali and Boakye. The rest doesn't convince me tbh.

Actually his career path is similar to el sharawy not giovinco. giovinco was a great talent at the age of 21-22 and we knew he was going to be a very good player but not superb player. berardi can become a superb player.

Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi will be Juventus’ first signing for the 2014-15 campaign, notes Tuttosport.

The wide attacker is part-owned by the Turin giants after he was netted in a €4.5m co-ownership swap which saw Luca Marrone head to the Neroverdi.

“Our relationship with Juventus is excellent,” Sassuolo director general Giovanni Rossi told the newspaper.

“It will not be difficult to find an agreement that will make them and us happy.

“In general, I think that a full season here with us for Berardi will do him well. He is a great talent, a player with the capabilities to decide the outcome of a game but a boy who is not yet 20.

“The displays of Berardi have been important, but we are also satisfied with the performances of Marrone and Simone Zaza [also co-owned with Juve] as well.

“Luca arrived here with an injury and because of his build he needed a bit of time, while Simone id doing well in his first top-flight campaign.”

Midfielder Marrone has played in four games, while Zaza has three goals in 11 encounters for the outfit.

I can imagine him rubbing his hands together at this point.

Some may remember that Giovanni Rossi was the chief of our youth sector until he took that job with Sassuolo, so that club is the perfect go-between for our young players. Them staying in Serie A is fairly important on a technical and financial level.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Sassuolo will be our B team, with our best youngsters playing for them, while Rossi is there. Win-win for everybody.

Right winger?. Bring that mofo back home next season :D

he cannot be worst than the Islander

Also, i think the Pogba case, even when rare, will open opportunities for some other youngsters to get playing time instead of getting the cold bench until they are 26-27 years old

Giovinco looked like he was going to develop into a world class player that would replace Del Piero. He never progressed though and is still at the same level he was at when he was 20.

Problem he just emulated Del Piero's mannerisms and gestures but none of his class and greatness.

^ this. Just imagine if we're up 3-0 at 60' or 65', and you could bring a player that's 18-19-20-21 years old who could get his minutes. And a few games where he can start to. Much more interesting to see such young players then the Padoin, Peluso's and De Ceglie's.
