I noticed many, many posts asuming many things about God. None, not even one of those statements can be empiricaly proven, therefore they are a great subject for philosophers, sociologists, psychologists, theologists and so on. Great subject, but not matter of fact.
If God couldl be proven empirically, that would mean that he must be understood completely by humans... in that case, he wouldn't be much of a God, would he? If humans could prove the existence of God empirically, then it would prove that God doesn't exist ;)

God exist only if you chose to believe he/she exist.
Too bad for you that sounded smarter than it was :p That makes no sense.

...and also, if anyone, even God him/herself told me that i have to sacrafice my son in his/hers name (or whatever reason it may be) - i know what my answer would be.
...that's why you're not God :)

so if the 11/09 attackers honestly seeked redemption the split-second before they died... what would happen?

what do you mean by "between heaven and hell"?
the prophet says that redemption will not be accepted if the soul reaches the throat. Or when the person is dieng (spelling?). But thats only if they are sure that they will die like they were drowning, or their airplane was crashing....
And yes if they seek redemption otherwise this will be even viewed on the day of judgement.
And I repeat if they seek honest redemption.

So someone who seeks honest redemption on their deathbed, knowing they'll die from cancer... isn't forgiven?

P.S. dying ;)

Sorry to say , but i fail to understand each of your answers.

a) are you saying that we can not prove that god exist, and if we could prove it empiricaly, we weold prove that he doesnt exist?
Als, why would i believe in something i can not "completly" understand? Why would YOU believe in something you do not understand?

B) IT makes a lot of sense. You choose to believe, i dont. as simple as that.

C) you failed to see my point. My child is not a sacrafice to anyone and anything. Would you bring your child as a gift to God, as a sacrafice, IF GOD, which you dont understand completly, demended from you do to so?

If they knew ahead that they will die then its a gift from allah so they can redeem themselves. But if they where at the death bed and will die in a few moments, they cant cancel what they did...... THats it the pen is dry now.

Damn... even if it's all honest repentance?

Are they not forgiven because they don't have time to do enough good deeds?

Could u please explain the things that a Moslem needs to do in order to be redeemed? Thanks :)

Its because they know that they will die soon, and thats why they seek redemption, they should have done it before.
And the way to redeem is byfeeling really sorry and not doing it again.
Thats it really.

i just love religious discussions.
zizou what was your question again? oh yea, the head covering thing. like i said, we muslim women treasure our bodies so much that we preserve it for the best- for our husbands. personally i prefer this anyway. I mean, reserving one's beauty for the husband makes it all so much more.. special

as for the terrorism attacks, man, islam doesn't even allow killing the innocent.. I'm against all these bombings. and how do I feel them using Islam's name? ebraheej described it really well, annoyed :D

god forgives anyone who seeks honest redemption except those who repent at their dying moments. why? because he knows hes dying and NOW only he wants to repent. sure he's filled with regret etc but being honest with one's self you'll realize he's only repenting because he's gonna die and that's not exactly honest is it?

In Islam, God is very, extremely, kind. and I mean VERYYY kind and merciful. You say surely our sins will weight over our deeds? Truth is no one can judge a person more than God can. Besides whats important in Islam is trying to do good and avoid evil. Simple. Human beings are not perfect, we are BOUND to make mistakes, and that's where you have repenting and a God which is Merciful. I think, as long as a moslem live by the rule "TRY to do good and avoid evil" he/she'll survive

I've read somewhere how a person describes God- Just someone waiting for someone to call Him, and He'll come to you. God is Just, yes, but one shall never forget how merciful he can be.

Gray, I have some pointers bout the bible-hebrew stuff but I'm just too tired to talk bout it now.. :D
