each year I take a piece of paper and write the names of the top 5-6 teams in Serie A one next to the other.

After that I write the possible starting lineup with 3-5 subs and the coach.

Then I put some points for each position from left to right with 1 being the best of the 5-6 teams with 5 being the worst.

ex:

Inter........Roma..........Juve........Milan........Fiorentina

J.Cesar(2)....Doni(5)............Buffon(1)....Dida(4)..........Frey(3)
Maicon(1).....Panucci(3)........Zebina(4)...Zambrotta(2)..Comotto(5)

...

some teams play 4-4-2, 4-3-3...so for the RM you put Gattuso to Milan for example

Mourinho(3)....Spalletti(2)....Ranieri(1) j/k


In the end I calculate the total for each team and in the end, the one with the smaller number will finish 1st and so on...that way you can make your predictions on who will finish 1st, 2nd...



I know that you never calculate it that way and it will never be accurate but it's fun.

You can also add other points like this and calculate the total:

Inter........Roma..........Juve

keeper(2)....(3).........(1)
defense
mids
forwards

Just that you give double less pts to them.

For example
Amauri (2.5) -Borriello (1.5)-Suazo (2) -Esposito (0.5)-Osvaldo (1)

The bench plays a big role in long championships so it gives a better picture of team's strenght.

yeah, I still give the same points but your system works too. The final tabulation will have the same result but the points will be different.

but it's nice trying to compare players and see were your flaws are in the team. If you have 4's and 5's all in defense you know somethings wrong...
