I wonder were the goals will come from if Diego plays as an SS, he isn't exactly a goal scoring machine (anything over 10 would surprise me actually, even if he's a sure starter and stays clear of injuries) and in our midfield only Martinez seems to have an eye for a goal. Seems like Del Piero will still have to do a lot of work even if he's used as a super-sub and our strikers will have to score as crazy for us to have a decent season. Oh, and hopefully Chiellini&Marchisio keeps popping up with an unusual surprise.

He proved at Bremen he can score freely and often with real quality, if playing with other decent paced players who are comfortable on the ball. Last season he was often the only player in our midfield who constantly looked comfortable with the ball at his feet, and also, could pass accurately, and with invention. The only quality link between midfield and attack. This season we have martinez, perhaps krasic also, both of whom, especially krasic, enjoy running with the ball at their feet. I suspect we will see a different Diego, above all else if Krasic joins. Those two could be wonderful together. Krasic is exactly the kind of player who diego was born to play with...direct, tricky, pacey, determined, and can shoot as well as cross. Its a mouthwatering proposal.

Diego definitely didn't take as many shots on goal last year as he did with Bremen. I think he was trying to honor his role as our new creative midfielder so much that he would opt to pass instead of go for goal. I saw a lot of instances where he would pass when he really should have had a shot, he rarely took shots from outside the box.

Diego has shot like 20 times from freekicks with us so far and they have all been identical :D Curling inwards and going a little bit over the bar. He's bound to get it right sometime though but don't we have anyone else who could shoot those when DP isn't around?
